Bleeding after D

Hi! Iam 35 yrs. old. I was 12 weeks pregnant and went to doctor for 12 week checkup. The doctors found no heartbeat. They said the baby died about 11 1/2 weeks. I had a D&C the next morning. Everything was fine. Then, I started bleeding more about the 7th day. Today is the 9th day, and I am bleeding more and passed alot of blod clots last night in toilet mostly, when urinating. Iam pretty sure my doctor of 10 years used an ultrasound while performing surgery. he also put me on antibiotics for 7 days, and Methergine the first 24 hrs. I  took all medications as directed. Why am I bleeding still, and worse? Thank u for any info.

Hi i am very sorry for your loss, I also just had a D&C done on friday and my doctor had told me if i start to pass blood clots that i should be seen right away so if i was you  i would call the hospital and tell them what is going on and that way they can tell you what to do. Good Luck

Are you cramping badly with the clots?????  I had to have a second D&C because they left a piece of placenta at the tip of my uterus.  Once I had the second one done the bleeding practically stopped.  I would call to just make sure.  I am sorry for your loss.  I was also 12 weeks along and found out there was no h/b thru a routine u/s.  For your piece of mind - After my second D&C on Oct 6, 2003 I got a period on Nov 7, 2003 and again Dec 7, 2003 and guess what NOTHING in Jan.  I got pg again right around Christmas time.  I have a beautiful little boy who will be 14 months old Nov 8.  Good Luck and take care

it may be too late now, but i try to tell everyone when they say u babys heart has stopped or whatever and they need to do a d/c always get a second opinion...a friend of mine almost aborted her baby without knowing at 5 month...dont want to go into too much details and make this too long but u may read my last post to the girl who had to have two d/c becasue they left her fetus in her a whole month....go back and see ur doc rightaway....

Thanks for responding! It sure does help to find out other ladies experiences that are similar to mine. Iam not cramping badly with this 10 days of bleeding. Iam waiting on a call from my doctor now. The clots have diminished, but stilll some bleeding; even after the doctor on call yesterday prescribed me Metehrgine for 1-2 days; or until I talk to my doctor today. I don't know what to think. I think my doctor used an ultrasound during D&C. I should hope there is not tissue left in my uterus. Thanks again!

HI! I had a D&C 16 days ago. Iam still bleeding! I passsd small clots 1 week ago. I had sever cramping for only 30 minutes 4 days ago. Just bleeding since then. Light to moderate. Tonight I just passed a VERY LARGE CLOT! Just 1 so far. No cramping. Iam scared now. I saw my doctor 3 days ago and he assured me he got all the tissue out of my uterus and not to worry. He said it will stop soon. If not, then he will do a vaginal ultrasound. Iam so frustrated and confused and scared. i didn't know id I should waste time to go to emergency room, or wait until Monday and see MY doctor. It's saturday night, and Halloween on top of that. What would they do tonight anyway. What should I do?> Ianot heavy bleeding. Help ! PLease someone with similar experience, or knowledge. PLEASE HELP! THANKS !

I read your history on your bleeding after your D&C and thought I would share my story.  First, I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  It is a hard time to get through.  I had a miscarriage myself last month.  I had some small red spotting on Oct 17, they did an ultrasound at the ER to find no heartbeat.  I went for a second opinion on Oct 24, they verified there was no fetal growth in the week so I had a D&C on Oct 25.  They baby was measuring only 10 weeks 4 days while it should have been measuring about 13 weeks. After my D&C I had a tiny bit of tan spotting each day for 6 days.  Then this past Saturday (11/5) I had a LOT of red/brown clots come out.  I thought it was my period. Since it has only been 2 weeks since my D&C I was shocked to get a period so soon. I still have this discharge now 5 days later.  I went to the OB yesterday to get my 2 week check-up post D&C.  He said what I have in not my period since there wasn't time for me to ovulate yet since the D&C. Your body will not ovulate with the remains inside.  He said that during the pregnancy the blood vessels in your uterus fill up, now that my uterus is back to its correct shape, size and texture it is relaxing and so the blood vessels have relaxed as well and are releasing the blood they have been storing. I should get a regular period in another 2-3 weeks.

i just had a d&c 3wks ago, i had light bleeding for a week after the procedure then i started bleeding a lot more & having a lot of blood clots & cramping, it's been 22 days & i am still bleeding a lot & having clotting, starting w/the cramps again.  they did give me an antibiotic in case of infection like almost a week ago along w/methergine for 2days but apparently it didn't do what it was suposed to.  i am so worried because i don't have any children, will this hurt my chances of having another baby??? i think i am switching dr.'s too.

I had a medical termination in September 15th due to the baby's abnormalities...I was told I would bleed for 2 weeks..but right now as am typing I am still bleeding it's been 5 weeks after the procedure..what is wrong and worried.

I am still bleeding after a medical termination...it's be a month and a week...can i still get pregnant?
