Bleeding after miscarriage

Bleeding after miscarriage

How long is the normal period of time that a woman may bleed for after a miscarriage.  I had a m/c at 19 weeks on feb 1 and have yet to stop bleeding.  I did not have a d/c done because the doctor on call at the hospital where it took place did not feel it was necessary.  There has been no real follow up with a doctor, because it seems they do not feel it is necessary, which I do not understand.  The bleeding had turned to heaverier spotting a few days ago and now is heavier with small clots.  It has been two months and I am beginning to wonder if my body is healing properly at all.  I went through full on labour and delivery and the baby was still born and no real follow up.

I am so sorry for your loss. This must be very difficult for you. Especially with the bleeding still, which I would not think is normal, unless they are considering this the same as post partum bleeding. Still, two months later and bleeding would have me concerned. Have you called to speak with anybody in the OB department recently? I guess I would think this would be a good idea. Again, so sorry...

Thanks.  I think that is going to be the next thing I do is to call the OB department.  Maybe they are considering it to be post partum bleeding having gone through full on child birth but I am starting to become concerned.

If you have no other recourse, go back to the ER at the hospital where you delivered.  But do try the OBs there, first.
