Brown spotting in early pregnancy

Brown spotting in early pregnancy

I am about 5 weeks, should be 6 weeks tomorrow. I had an internal u/s on Monday. Gestational sac/ yolk sac still showed pretty early, so they were leaning towards early 5 weeks. No heartbeat yet. After the u/s I did spot and have been spotting, but decreasing everyday. It was brownish in color. Am I miscarrying? The nurse said I may spot after the u/s but its been 3 days now? I'm so nervous. I had a miscarriage in Jan and that was bright red bleeding and cramping. I have no other symptoms but the brownish discharge. Please help. Thank you!

awwww i know how nervous you are! I had a mc back in 2003 and was sooooo scared this time. But if you are having brown blood, it's probably implantation bleeding, which is normal. And also for the fact that u had the internal u/s and nurse even said you might spot alil. I'm sure it's ok. But if you start the red blood with cramps be worried and all dr! Good luck to u!

do miscarriages usually have red blood immediately?

No. I lightley spotted for 3-4 days before the heavy bleeding started. I knew my baby had died however, becuase I went in right away when I noticed the littelist spotting. It did progress though, so if your is getting lighter It must be from the u/s. Worrying is like a rocking chair..it gets you no where. So be calm. Don't worry about something you can't control. I'm sure you are totally fine, especially since the doc said so. Take comfort in what the nurse said and I'm sure the spotting will subside soon!

i know i shouldn't worry, but its hard not to have it on my mind. What's meant to be is meant to be and that's what I keep telling myself

With my 1st m/c I had just brown spotting for a few days and then one big clot.  Then with my 2nd one it started with the bright red blood.  Good luck and I would call the dr.

For those who spotted and had a m/c I have a question.  I'm also 6w tomorrow, and for the past couple of days have had really minimal very light pink/orange spotting.  Nothing on the tissue when I wipe, just at the end of the day on my pantiliner - and I have to look really carefully to see if it's pink or yellow.  Was that what you all had when you m/c'd or was it different.  I had a m/c last winter, but I never had any spotting until way after I knew the baby had died.

You could get your hcg levels checked, just 2 days apart, especially since they usually can't see fetal pole til certain number. That would tell you how you're doing although to me all the numbers just make me crazy. Best wishes.

I had brown spotting.  there was NO QUESTION about the color.  Usually normal discharge dries yellow...sometimes this means there is a problem tho!!

I would say if your hcg is looking good then everything should be ok.  With my 2nd pregnancy and this one I had to have blood work every couple days to make sure it was ok.  Good luck and let me know how your u/s goes.  I have a dr appt on Monday!!

yes i did end up m/c.  It was a blighted ovum.  I spotted for a few days and then got cramps (bad) and then a clot came out and the cramps went away.  But I lost ALL pregnancy symptoms like a few hours before I m/c with my 2nd one, but this one was bright red blood.  If you are concerned you might be m/c call your dr!!!

yes i have called my dr. I guess it is a waiting game. They have me schedule for an u/s on Monday. Based on the good hcg increase in my blood work, they see no reason to worry. So we'll see what happens

With this pregnancy i have had barely can see light pink almost invisiable blood when i wipe, not now, but around 8, 9 10 wks or so. And i freaked out!!! also. But i haven't had it since then and eveything is going smoothly so far. i am 18 wks today.
Also had some brown/implantation bleeding at first which every1 said was normal.
Now with my m/c back in 2003 i had spotting with red blood at first, and then it got heavier and i went to the dr and they confirmed thru blood test a m/c was taking place and to wait it out.
I think u have nothing to worry about, but like the others said if it turns red you can call you dr to make sure. :)

I would say that it's possible the internal u/s agitated your cervix and caused one of the many engorged blood vessels to burst. This is probably why they tell you that it's possible to spot after an internal u/s. Nobody can say that it should only be for a day or two. 3 days is fine too. If it gets stronger or is accompanied by cramps (and I don't mean little normal twinges - I'm talking double-over cramps) then it would be cause for concern. But I think you would've experienced that by now if you were going to m/c.

It's sooooo natural for you to be overly anxious and even petrified of the same thing happening again after m/c once before. My first pg ended in m/c and I went on to have 3 babies and am now 12.5 weeks with #4 and have not had another m/c since. Didn't have any bleeding with my first baby - dream pregnancy, she is nearly 5.

I had unexplained bleeding at 10 weeks with #2 and the u/s showed the baby was fine. I had no idea what the blood was from but it was bright red and a lot of it...I thought for sure I had lost another baby! But it was all ok. He is now 3!

I spotted for 2 days with #3 at about 12 weeks after having sex on Xmas eve...didn't have a very fun Xmas day I can tell you! But it was all ok there too. He is now nearly 15 months old!

So far I haven't had any bleeding or anything abnormal (touch wood) with this pregnancy. But I can tell you that fear did not go away with each pregnancy I had! A strong fetus will survive anything and if a m/c was going to happen there's not much you can do to prevent it. Trust your body and your baby (easier said than done - it's only taken me four other pregnancies!!!). But I speak from experience with m/c followed by successful pgs...good luck sweetie! It sounds really normal to me!

I had brown spotting too. This lasted for about a week. SOme days it went other days it was there. I had a blighted ovum.

But when I had gone in they told me that brown spotting is not usually because you are miscarrying, so don't freak out just yet. Wait until you have your next scan and see what they tell you.
