Celexa and Breastfeeding

Celexa and Breastfeeding

Is it safe to take Celexa and breastfeed your infant?  I've used Zoloft and Paxil in the past, but have experienced side effects (arrythmias and weight gain respectively) so thought I might try Celexa this time around.  I read Zoloft and Paxil were the best drugs to use when BFing.  Is this true?  Would it be better to take Paxil vs. Celexa after I deliver?  Also, when does Celexa peak in the milk?  Is it best to avoid nursing at this time?

Thanks so much!!

I have Bipolar Disorder, I am not positive about Celexa in general but I do believe Zoloft is one of the safest. My doctors have taken me off of everything so I just have to tough it out. But my advice to you is talk to a psychiatrist they should know and also I do alot of researching about depression and pregnancy online. Google will give you alot of results just type in the same subject you should get the information you want. If you don't call a psychiatrist. Hope that helps some.
