Chromosome Test is Back

by PhillyGirl3180, Nov 18, 2005 12:00AM
I got a chromosome test on a sample they took from my m/c.  The results came back that there was nothing genetically wrong with the sample and chromosome issues were not the cause of the m/c.  I have to go in for a bunch of blood work now. Has anyone else been though this?  What should I expect now?

My sister had a miscarriage this summer and had similar results.  That is actually a good sign that there weren't any chromosomal defects.  I think if there were it is more likely to happen again.  In my sister's case, they said that sometimes miscarriages just happen and there wasn't any reason why she couldn't go on to get pregnant right away again.

Good luck!

same here, i went on to concieve again right away, they always say things happen for a reason, but it is especially hard when there are  no answers as to why it happens. good luck to you, i wish you all the best.

That is what the nurse told me.  She said 1 out of 5 women have a miscarriage and 10% of those miscarriages don't have an answer to why.  Why do I keep on falling into the crappy end of the statistic?

Thanks!

I found out Dec. 22 2004 at almost 21 weeks that my baby was only 18.4 weeks and dead. By the end of Jan. I got my test results back and they were similar to yours. Nothing was physically wrong with him (autopsy), and all the tests that they did on me came back perfect. The only one that I didn't have a chance to get done was the DNA do to Med Insurance dragging thier feet on getting back to either the doc or me as to weather it would be covered and by the end of March I was pg again so the doctor said to me at the first visit I went to with a smile on his face "I guess it's a little too late to get the DNA done huh?". How he explained to me is" It's one of those funky things that happen and usually there are no answers to why it happens."

I am so sorry that you guys are going through this, it is a truly terrible time. Not having a diffinate reason why is a hard pill to swallow and Even in this pregnancy (currently almost 34 weeks) I am so scared all the time that it may happen again or that something may be wrong with him because we couldn't get the DNA done. Anyway, keep your chin up and good luck.

I miscarried twice and my chromosomal testing came back okay, too.
