Clomid and late IUI :(

Clomid and late IUI :(

Hi ladies. This is the first time I have posted a question on here, and you all seem so wonderful! I am just wondering if anyone else has had this situation. I had a MC in May and my doctor started me on Clomid last month. I am also using a fertility monitor. According to the monitor my peak fertiliy was on Clomid cycle day 10 and 11 (a Saturday and Sunday). However, after the office confused me with another patient (grrr) I ended up not having my IUI until Monday, by then my fertiliy was high, but not peak :(. Do you think the IUI was done too late? Has anyone else used the monitor and IUIs, and if so do you have your IUIs on peak days? This is my first cycle using a monitor and Clomid/IUI so I am not sure what to think. All I know is that I didn't get pregnant this month. Onto cycle two!

I, too, am also doing the IUI's.  I had one in May and it didn't take and I just went back and had another one last Monday.  I am on clomid 100 mg and then I have to start using OPK's starting on cd 11 until I get my positive. Just like this month, I got my positive Sunday afternoon and I went in Monday afternoon. How long have you been ttc?  My dh and I have been trying for almost 2 years. I would be upset though if I were you and my dr got me mixed up with someone else.  Hopefully it works for you the second time around. I know I am keeping my fingers crossed that it worked for us!  I keep thinking I am having symptoms, but then I think that I'm just making myself think that I'm having symptoms!  Good luck to you.

hi. on what days of your cycle did you start taking clomid? how long are your cycles usually? i'm confused as to whether you mean day 10 or 11 of your cycle or after starting clomid. i don't know much about the fertility monitor you're using - usually i just have my dr. monitor my cycle and he tells me when to come in for the iui - usually it has been about a week and a half after i've started the clomid - well actually letrazole (femara) - which does what clomid does, just a different one b/c clomid didn't work for me. i take the letrazole on days 5 - 9 of my cycle and so far have had iuis around day 17 or so of my cycle (but again my dr. is monitoring when i oed and telling me when to come in). the first time i did iui - i only did it once - on actual day of ovulation - i know this b/c dr. saw that area where egg was was getting smaller b/c egg already being released. i got pregnant that time (ended up m/c but nothing to do with letrazole or iui). last time i had 2 iuis - one day or two before ovulation and one on day of ovulation (actually one egg had already released and the other one was on it's way out). it didn't work this time, but the dr. did say it was very good timing. when you had your iui did your dr. say anything about the timing? he/she should've been able to see what was doing with your ovaries (with a transvaginal u/s). the egg does last 24 hours so even if you missed the iui on sat. and sun. it could still have been okay and made the timing with the egg. hopefully the sperm swam fast to reach that egg!! good luck and keep me posted - hoping to hear good news from you soon.

Hi there,

Same boat. I started on clomid as well, and on day 10 (10 days after the first day of my periods) i went to get an ultrasound done to see if any follicles were ready to rupture (as in release the egg). they found 2 mature follicles and 2 almost ready ones, and they performed the IUI the next day, my LMP was on the 16th of May and my IUI was on the 27th. I am pregnant, but there seems to be an issue with the dates which i am hoping the next u/s will sort out.

However coming back to you, with an IUI, there is no way to tell which day you're going to get pregnant, but in the right conditions the sperm can stay inside you for over 5 days (many factors taken into consideration, narmal is 72 hours). So they usually do an OPK to see what the best time is and do the IUI a day before the peak time and repeat it a few days after to get the best possible opportunities.

If you dont get pregnant this round, they just start you back on clomid the next month.

Thanks for the information ladies. It seems to me that they did the IUI way too late! :(  Buda1, we have been TTC for almost a year now, I was lucky and got pregnant right after an HSG, but lost that little one (I was so shocked I got pregnant naturally but the doc said he could rule out alot of problems by the fact that I did get pregnant at all). It sounds like they should have done the IUI on Sat or Sunday (my Clomid days 10 and 11). Berko, the doc started me on Clomid on day 3, and interestingly my cycle is 28 days, which means I should start to check for ovulation on day 11 of the Clomid cycle, but I was using the monitor ayway and found out I was already o'ing on day 10! So it seems I ovulate a little early, hence why it probably didn't take this time around. I am going to start my second round of Clomid today. Sameerah73 good luck with this pregnancy. Hearing your story makes me eager to start again today. I am going to make sure they do the IUI earlier this time. I will keep you all up to date next month :). Good luck!
