ImmmortalOne: Don't take anything until you check with a doctor, I m/c in october and partial was due to me taking sudafed cold, it's anti-histamines open every thing, before I knew it my sac came out with that last sneeze. I would encourage you to seek professional medical advice because what would work for someone else might not work for you. Good luck with every thing and Congratulations on your preg. Sticky baby dust to you.
I was told by my MW and MD that Tylenol Cold is one of the safest in pregnancy...
I'd still call and ask a nurse at your practice....sometimes the person who ans the phone is able to tell you as they have a list up front...mine does.
I have a cold as well and called my Dr. office Thursday. They said I could take Psuedophederine (active ingredient in Sudafed and Tylenol Sinus) They said plain Robitussin for a cough. You have to be careful b/c so many cold medicines have several ingredients in one. You can only get Psuedeophederine behind the counter (at least in Missouri), but it isn't a persription.
For Runny Nose & Cold: Benadryl, Cholor-Trimeton, Sinutab, Sudafed, Claritan, Claritan-D, Tylenol Cold & Sinus.
For Sore Throat: Sucrets, Choloraseptic Throat Spray.
I would double check meds with your Doctor. This is the list my OBGYN gave me.
Just Wondering....Wasn't it you that I read in a past post that you were trying to quit smoking?? If so, How's that going? Smoking can rob the body of vitamin C making it harder to fight off colds and smoking normally makes a cold worse and last longer.
Something naturally I use to fight off colds is a product called Emergen-"C". I buy it at Wal-mart. I mix one of the little packs with water and drink it. I have fought off several colds with it and my Doc approved it. It also has Vit B, folic acid and such to help with energy.
I hope you are up and around quick. Get well soon!!
