Does Paxil have an effect on pregnancy tests?

Does Paxil have an effect on pregnancy tests?

I am now three and half weeks late for my period, when I normally have very regular cycles. I quit taking my birth control pills last December. I have had almost every symptom of pregnancy, but I have taken three pregnancy tests, and all of them have come out negative. I have the sore nipples, the bloating, which is very unusual for me, weird sensations in my abdomen, spotting, cramps, nausea, headaches, fatigue, etc. I am currently on the anti-depressant Paxil, and I was wondering if the Paxil would have an effect on the pregnancy tests. Since I think I may be pregnant, I have discontinued the Paxil, but it has only been a few days since I discontinued its use. Can you please help me explain what is going on?

Paxil will not affect a pregnancy test result.  You might go see your doctor and get a blood-based pregnancy test.
