Dr used a normal stethoscope to check babys heart beat at 14 week s is that normal

hi all well i was at the er last night and the Dr wasn't much help he told me that if i was in labour they wouldn't stop it even if there was a heart beat on the baby  so i asked if they could check the heart beat he used a stethoscope to check I'm only 14 weeks i though you could only hear it at like 20 week with a stethoscope they wouldn't check with a Doppler so i don't know what to think i haven't slept all night as im worried i go for and u/s today to check but am very scared

Did the Dr. say if he heard it?  Are you thin?  I know it is easier for the Dr. to pick up a baby's heartbeat on a thin person.  I will be praying for you!  Keep us updated.

hi there well i'm not thin thin I'm about 140lb he said he thought he heard it but was not sure i went because i had contractions and lower back pain i just got back from u/s and the baby's hb is looking good and i am having contractions the tech didn't say much after i have to go to Dr at noon for results but he did say that he saw a strong heart beat so that's good enough for me thanks

Was it your regular Dr you saw?   I don't understand why they wouldn't stop labor at 14 wks if the baby's heart was beating.

Stopping labor before 18 weeks is more harmful to the baby than what the contractions are........that's what a friend of mine was told anyhow
