First Appointment - HELP!

by LegalBeagle, Mar 13, 2007 12:00AM
I just had my first appointment with the doctor.  I had a m/c in November 06.  I am 6w1d now.  They drew blood for tests, but I don't have any results yet.

My doctor put me on baby aspirin once a day and pregesterone supplements at night.  He said I'll probably take the aspirin until 20w and the progesterone until 12w.

I can't find anything about this.  Is this okay for the baby?  Will the baby have anything wrong with it?  I asked him and he did say it was safe.

Has anyone else had to do this before???

Hi,ive had 2 missed miscarriages both at 6 weeks 6 days,im currently 8 weeks pregnant and have been on low dose aspirin(75mg)daily and cyclogest progesterone pessarys 400mg twice daily, they are completely fine during pregnancy,i have noticed alot of differences with this pregnancy including the growth of the baby,in my opinion this is due to the aspirin and progesterone. My doc wants me to stay on the progesterone til around 12/13 weeks and the aspirin until i deliver, the aspirin will just thin your blood slightly enabling it to get through the tiny blood vessels in the womb to feed the baby, and my doc also said it helps the baby implant deeply,i was never tested for progesterone its just a precaution incase my body doesnt make enough, this is vital for the baby to continue developing, but the placenta will take over progesterone production around 12 weeks,it seems to be working for me so far,i have a scan tomorow, and like i said ive never been past 6 weeks 6 days,so this will be a big hurdle, hope this helps, take care

i'm taking 81mg aspirin daily and progesterone (prometrium) 200mg in am and 400mg at night (both orally)as well as taking neevo (it's a combo of prenatal vitamin and metanx (extra folic acid))...had my first u/s yesterday at 5w6d and the baby measured exactly as expected and we saw the heart beating (126 bpm)...this is the furthest we've gotten in my last 3 pregnancies so maybe it's helping...i think i'll be on prometrium until 10 or 12 weeks and aspirin and neevo until delivery...best of luck in your pregnancy:)

hi i'm just started taking the progesterone at 7 week orally 100mg am and 100mg nightly the am is hard because i'm not supposed to eat 1 hr before or 2 hr after taking the pill very hard as I'm hunger all the time i have noticed the night that i didn't take the progesterone i had cramping and a Lil light bleeding so not taking any chances as I'm already on bed rest that's why Dr put me on it. and  will just take it until Dr says to stop iv had 4 late m/c and a still birth so will do what every they tell me to do i did ask if it was safe for the baby my doc said  yes it was safe he was just putting me on it as a safety measure so for so good  I'm now 8 weeks 6 days and doing OK it seems to be helping me hope that helps good luck

I am 6w2d, and everything is progressing as hoped with the exception of my progesterone number.  After a recent m/c I started regularly tracking my progesterone and HCG levels at a specialty clinic, which just happened to quickly coincide with this pregnancy.  So now I have seen a downward trending progesterone level (15 to 16 to 18 to 16.5 and now 13) which was taken every few days.

Does anyone know anything about such an occurance?  I am starting to take the supplement nightly (crinone 8% gel), as per my dr's directive...but I am not sure what the expectation is....whether it makes it rise, stabilize etc.

Has anyone else tracked this value or know of its related significance given the circumstance and timing?
