Has anyone had menstrual cramps for several weeks during the first trimester?

Hello Everyone.  First I have to say thank god for this forum.  It has really helped me get through the weeks between ultrasound appointments.  I am wondering if anyone has had the same symptoms, or if it really is irregular and I should prepare for the worst.  I have had bad menstrual cramps starting at week 5 and am now at week 7 with no relief in site.  They are bearable, but very uncomfortable, and I finally had to take Tylenol last night (which did not help).  I also had light spotting for four days but that seems to have let up.  I do have an irregular shaped gestational sac as well (kidney bean shaped), and we were able to see a heartbeat at 117 bpm at 6w6d (which I am concerned is too low).  She also saw the yolk sac.  I have had two miscarriages in the past and am very concerned that these cramps mean I should expect another miscarriage.  Does anyone have any advice for me?  Thanks so much.

I am 6w3days and heart beat was 115bpm it is low at this point because they are so little.

I have cramping and lower back pain everyday.

I had awful cramps up until my 7th week of pregnancy with occasional light brown/pink spotting. I am now over 10 weeks and things are going just fine. The cramps do ease up.

I had cramping till about 9/10 weeks. It will go away and come back. dont worry as long as you ahve no bleeding everything is A OKAY!

I had cramping from the time we found out we were pregnant and even now I get them once and awhile (13 weeks).  Lower back pain, menstraul like cramps.  I think as long as there is not bleeding you will be fine. I had to take Tylenol for some of those days too.  Baby is fine, heartbeat (160 bpm) at 12 wks 3days.

Hi! I had bad cramps and spotting, and it ended up being a subchorionic hemorrhage that now has dissapeared. Also my baby had a hb of 115 at 6w5d and yesterday it had 138 at 7w, so keep the faith!  Be positive and tell your baby to grab hard onto you!    Also, every time I've gotten pr I've had cramps, 2 wks before my period is due, so Cloudsangel wait 1 week and have a hpt (I had 5 until it showed positive 5 days before my due period) So.. good luck to all and be POSITIVE!!

How long did your cramps last? I have been feeling like I have been on my period for almost a week now, and nothing. Not even any spotting, atleast that I have noticed. Are women SUPPOSED to have implantation bleeding? And sore boobs, I ask about that part because mine havent been hurting really at all and from everyone I have talked to they said that was the first sign for them that they were preg. I know that I am going on and on, but I have 1 more question (for right now any ways :P ) Is it normal when your pregnant to go from so hot you feel like your going to pass out to having the chills, with no actual fever? I have been doing that it seems like atyleast once a day....

I have had terrible cramps almost every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks.  They started on June 7th and I didn't find out I was even pregnant until June 16th.  I will be 5 weeks pregnant on June 27th.  I also have terrible lower back pain.  This pain is a bad sign to me because I had the same pain back in Oct./Nov. and had to have a D&C in December for a non-viable twin pregnancy.  I am worried out of my mind because I just don't want to go through this again.  The pain I have is bad and most days I can't even leave the house because of it.  I pray for the best for you and I am praying to God that I am wrong about myself this time too!

I am 31 yrs old and pg for the first time,6w3days. I have had menstrual like cramps for over a week, The intensity comes and goes, never too unbearable. I was spotting light pink and brown. For the past two days I have had light pink and light red mucus like discharge. A pin-head of dark red every now and then. The doc told me bleeding is common the 1st tri. as long as there's no clotting and sharp unbearable pains. I go in Mon for anothe hcg test, I am scared, should I be? Still have other symptoms...can anyone ease my fear?

Hello!  I am so grateful for this website!!  I am 27 years old and I think that I am pregnant with my 2nd child.  I had my LMP on January 16th (give or take a few days) and had NOTHING in the month of Feb.  Then I started getting light cramps here and there in the beginning of March and now they are like I am about to start.. for the past 3 days I run to the bathroom thinking I am about to start, but nothing.  I have EVERY symptom in the book... from the excess sneezing to the light headedness...  My boobs ar just now starting to feel tender... I am a little confused, cause I took 3 HPT and they were all negative... could it be too early to test?  I took a HPT when I was prego the first time and it barely gave me a light, I mean light, line saying it was positive at 8 weeks...  
I just think that AF is coming and she has not walked through the door yet...  My doctor doesnt want to do a blood test... she just keeps telling me that she wants to wait another month... Any advice?

I am in the same boat.  I actually had a miscarriage in December 07, then had a period February 9-16.  I have been cramping for about 2 weeks now.  Before I knew I was pregnant I cramped for about 3 weeks.  I had a BFN on 3/14.  That doesn't mean anything to me though because when I was pregnant before I tested negative also.  So I am going to acutally call my OBGYN today and see if they will give me a blood test, so we can rule out whether I am pregnant or not and if I'm not then why am I cramping.  Keep me posted.

I got my blood test back and the HcG was -2!! So I'm far from pregnant.  AF showed up 3/21 and just ended.  Keep me posted.

Hi everyone. I'm about 8 days late and feeling crampy with white discharge. My husband and I are trying to concieve (conceive) and I was late last month by a few day and then got my period. I've had false positives before. I took 2 HPT two days ago and both were a BFN. I'm really hoping I'm pregnant this time around. Lastnight I felt nausous it hit me quite suddenly then it was gone in a few min. today was the same thing and I ran to the bathroom and vomitted. Does anyone have any insight to what may be going on? When should I retest? What brand of test should I use?

i am 5 1\2 weeks pregnant with my uethird child. i had no cramping with my first, light cramping with my second, and with this one i am having like regular period cramps. they r uncomfortable, but like others have said not unbearable. my first apmt. is sep. 28th. my dc. said that u can get a pos. preg. test result n atill start ur period a few days later n not be preg. because ur body acts like it is preg before you start somtimes following another recent pregnncy. i want this baby ver bad. i have a 3 yr old n a 5 month old with my first husband who passed away last aug. i am now remarried n eager to add one more to the family before stopping. prayers for tis baby to stay implanted n grow healthy aregreatly appreciated. i think think n hope the cramping will subside

well for starters i have polycystic ovarian syndrome so my periods have always been irregular. when i gave birth to my first child who is now 14 months old thibngs started regulating. currently i am 29 days late so i decided to take a test 2 days ago... positive. yesterday while at work i started spotting, then it gradually started picking up throughout the day. its not bad like a normal period, but i am having cramp like pains in my lower abdomen that keep coming and going and i am having pains in my lower back too. with my little girl, i didnt have any bleeding at all, but i had the normal cramping from growing pains. i dont know if im having a miscarraige (miscarriage) or if this is normal. any advice?

i feel much better after i have read these comments, i am 6 weeks pregnant, and am suffering terrible cramps, i had 2 miscarriges before i had my daughter 6 years ago, the cramps feel similar! and it is very worrying, i have all the normal sighns of pregnancy, tender breasts feeling sick etc.... i have no bleeding so fingers crossed everything will be all right
