Heparin

Does anyone know how to make Heparin injections less painful. Just been prescribed 12 weeks min. worth and it is freaking me out! Can cope with the needles (just) but the fluid hurts like hell. Any advice would be welcome.

It's important that you pinch the skin while injecting the Heparin. You were shown how to do it, right?

Thats a hard one.  I have a chemport now that I use to give the heparin, but I use to have to do IM injections of that and phenergan...both burn like hell.  I had to alternate my legs and arms, I'm so sorry your having to deal with this.  With me it wasn't sticking myself that bothered me, but when I went to push it it burned.  I just had to make sure I injected it steady and kinda cover it with the alcohol pad soon as it came out..some people rub.. I rubbed...made it feel better to me.  Also if your giving the injection in a muscle you gotta make sure its in deep enough before you push, but I'm sure you know that already.  : ( Sorry you have to do them, but I hope this helps a little.

Then thats great, less stress for her then IM injections.  I take so much I forget what goes where if I haven't done it in a while...I'm thankful to have my port now!

I never found that it hurt to much.  But after my first labor, nothing hurts that much....LOL

Anyway, I think the location is very important.  I tried several different places but found that the top part of my butt on the side....top hip....worked the best.
