High Liver enzymes in first trimester

by Adrianne, Nov 05, 2004 12:00AM
My liver enzymes and bilirubin counts skyrocketed about 1.5 yrs ago- which was attributed after extensive testing (blood tests, liver biopsy, etc) to be related to birth control pills. I quit taking them, my levels returned to normal- I became pregnant ~6 months later, and my liver enzymes increased again- then I miscarried at 12 weeks. I am currently pregnant again, and my liver enzymes are again elevated. I am in my 7th week. I have a daughter who is 3, and had no issues with that pregnancy.  The docters I have seen have no explanation for this behavior- and plan to just monitor my levels through the pregnancy.  Is there any information on this- how it could effect me or my unborn child?

Here is a website that goes over multiple liver problems during pregnancy.
