IUD experiences? Yes or No?

IUD experiences? Yes or No?

I'm contemplating having an IUD implanted.  I was just wondering about other women's experiences with it.  I do not know a single women who has ever had one.  Can you tell me about your experiences with it?  Good, bad or indifferent?
I'm sort of unsure if it's right for me.

Thank You

Well, the only thing I can tell you is something that happened to a friend of my mothers.  She had the IUD and ended up getting pregnant and due to the IUD it was aborted.  Now understand this was a few years ago so I am sure things have changed.  But, 3 years ago I contiplated getting an IUD because I couldn't handle birth control pills, and I asked my doc the question about my moms friend, and he did say that it HAS happened in a few cases.

My mom works as a nurse in labor and delivery.  She laughs about IUD because she says she has seen many babies born while the mother had an IUD.  I also have heard about mixed feelings on weather this is a type of abortion.  As I understand it... the egg is fertilized and it is not allowed to plant properly because of the IUD.  If it does plant then it is destroyed by the iud.

Hi I currently have the copper IUD and I love it!! I have had no complaints except it did hurt more than I expected when I had it inserted but they did have to dilate my cervix which they usually dont have to do. Other than that it is wonderful. I dont have to worry about taking a pill everyday or hormones. they also have mirena IUD which does have hormones that  are delivered straight to the uterus. IUDs are suppose to block sperm from reaching the egg not just stopping the egg from attaching to the uterus.

I had a Mirena IUD for 2 years and I hated it. I had a period that was lighter but it lasted 1-3 weeks. I always felt twinges of pain. It sucked. My sister has the same thing and she loves it, no problems. I just had it removed a week and a half ago because I couldn't stand it any longer, now I am here on the internet trying to figure out why I am still having bleeding issues and painful cramps. Help, has anyone else had issues after it was taken out? My doctor did not tell me that I would be in this much pain. It hurts to sit, it hurts after sex, it hurts when I try to sleep.

I hated Mirena but love my non hormonal copper iud. Mirena was a nightmare, copper iud a Godsend. In total I have had mine for about five years. No pregnancies resulted with it in. Had it removed, got pregnant and have it again. I highly recommend it. Especially since there are no hormones to deal with.
