Is any one out there who has a child with UTI?

My 8 month old son suffered from UTI when he was 5 months, he was hospitalized, and his fontanel bulged due to the extent of the infection, thank God, when the Lumbar tap was done, the CSF is normal. He has been on low dose antibiotic since then. His doctor, a nephrologist, suspected a VUR or reflux which accdg to her, will possibly be resolved in 6 months time. His urine culture during the last  3 months showed no growth of bacteria, but still, the low dose antibiotic continues. Is there anyone out there who experienced the same? I'm afraid of the antibiotic side effects to my son's health and normal antibodies.

Its now jan and because i received a mail of medhelp , i logged in.
Ofcourse i first look at antibiotics because this ruind my daughter who is now just 17 and since 4years , she is not able to go to school.
She had a double reflux.
She started to get blatterinfections when she was about 4.
After the third she was send to hospital.
Ofcourse a lott of resurch what the reason was.
For years she got antibiotics till she got a n operation for reflux
20 min.
After she got very il from the antibiotics.
It was a hell.
the chirurg told me: I get normal very little children for operation.
My child was send on her 12 for operation.
The list of antibiotics is so long that it fils an A4.
