Macrobid in early pregnancy

Hi everyone
I just find out am pregnant in 6 wk. Bye the time I had a UTI infection and I have taken macrobid for 4 day twice a day.
Now I am wondering if this antibiotic can affect my baby.
If you passed through this problem please advise me. Thank you very much.

I also took Macrobid while pregnant with my dd.  I had a bladder infection and my ob said it was safe to take during pregnancy.  I cant' remember what category it was but something made me ask the pharmacist and they said it would be fine.  Good luck

I also took it during a pregnancy- uti-  and everything was fine...  I wouldn't worry about anything...  I am pretty sure that one is safe!

Hi - I had to take macrobid at week 16 (I think 16) with a UTI - it's way better than letting the infection go.  In any event, both my ob and primary care said it was completely safe and the drug of choice for pg moms to be with a uti.  Good luck!

my docs just gave me some too for a uti.

they assure me it's fine and i had 3 m/c before so i'm extra paranoid...but they absolutely said okay to use....

an infection is much worse for the baby than antibiotics

I was 7 months pregnant and I when in for a check up and my baby was a healthy growing baby and they gave me Macrobid and not even a week later I went back in for a check up and my baby was dead...The only thing I was on was Macrobid so I dont believe that it is safe to take when you are PREGNANT!!!!

I just got out of the hospital...I was admitted for 3 days for a kidney infection. My OBGYN prescribed Macrobid twice a day for two weeks, but then I have to continue to take the anitbiotic once a day for the duration of my pregnancy!! I am 12 weeks and this is my first, so I am a little nervous. I have read both positives and negatives on this antibiotic. What should I do??

Follow your Dr.'s orders & ask if you have any questions.  I took it with my second baby a couple times, not the whole pregnancy, but off & on.  Also had to take the pyridium most of the time- he's a stubborn almost 3 year old today!  Congrats & don't feel bad asking your Dr. questions, they look for you & baby.
