Migrane Medication and TTC/Pregnancy

Hello all...While preg w/DD i was on Zoloft the whole time with no problems.  I did not have any big migranes (migraines) either.  I recently have had some worse headaches as well as migranes (migraines) and the dr just gave me Imitrex to take at the onset of Migranes (migraines).  My Ques is, he said do not take if Preg.  I asked him what about TTC?  He replied do not take if preg.  I asked what about that TWW time period  he simply said well I don't know?  What kind of answer is that?  Anyone have any info about it?  Thanks:-)

Don't know...I get migraines too and when pregnant called my ob for headaches.  They told me to take Tylenol or ibuprofen (to 30 weeks).  Normally this does nothing but I wasn't really wanting to take a bunch of medicine.

However they did tell me if it persisted or got worse they could give me something for migraine -- don't know what.

Call your ob/gyn and ask what is safe when TTC and ultimately when pregnant.

Good luck!

I'm a migraine sufferer.  Started after my first child was born.  I don't know anything about prescription medication for migraines (its a genetic issue in our family - and several take prescriptions but I don't).

One thing I was advised to take in my 2nd pregnancy after I called the clinic while having a migraine was to take 2 extra strength tylenol and drink two cans of coke.  The miracle: the migraine was gone.  I'm fortunate that I get the aura before the migraine so I know to take the 2 tylenol and coke immediately when the aura and vision problems appear and so it takes the migraine away before it actually hits full force.  Tylenol is the only medication I ever take (especially during pregnancy).  Migraines are debilitating for me (I lose my eye site).  If you take the two tylenol and the cans of coke after the migraine starts it can take up to an hour for the migraine to weaken (that has been the case for me anyway).
