Ovulation after D&C....

Ovulation after D&C....

Does anyone know if you can ovulate after a D&C without your HCG level being all the way at 0? I've read conflicting reporst on this. Some docs say it has to be back at 0 in order to ovulate, others say it doesn't.  I had a D&C, and two weeks later I had ovulation symptoms. HCG dropped to 400 one week after the D&C. The next week down to 40 (it's supposed to decrease by half every 48 hours), We got the green light to ttc as long as the bleeding had stopped, so we did. The following week it was at 20. That week it didn't drop as it should have, and I'm wondering if I could be pregnant. Waiting for my RE to call me back about this.

From my experience with my last 2 m/c's, I didn't get pregnant untill HCG was around 0.  I too had ovulation symptoms but didn't conceive with HCG in blood and I get pregnant pretty easy.  Some people conieve soon after D&C if their level goes down fast but mine took around 9-10wks both times.  I am not much help because I've also looked for this answer and get conflicting answers but I would think it has to be low, not zero, but around there.

Try looking at it this way... When I asked my RE if it's okay to start ttc or do IVF right after the D&C, he said that if your body goes into it's ovulatory cycle, then it's ready to be pregnant. There are other docs that say you need to wait for one cycle to pass, some say 3, others even 6. But if you are pregnant, your body knows what it's doing. I would think that implantation wouldn't have occured if your uterus wasn't healed enough. And at this point, if you are pregnant, it will do you no good to worry about it being too soon. Whatever happens, you didn't do anything wrong. You, like all of us, just want to have a baby. :o)  Do you know what your HCG levels were after your D&C? If they were below 5, and it's been a couple weeks since oyu think you ovulated, a hpt might tell you something. I hope that all is well, and that whatever you desire, you receive!

my levels was 8 at my checkup. But i read in so many places that you don't ovulate on your first cycle after a m/c or d&c, but i know my body very well so I know that I ovulated without a doubt. I pray that If I am preg that it will go well. I haven't told my DH because he was heartbroken when we lost the last one.
