Plancenta Tear

Plancenta Tear

I am 6 weeks pregnant and was having spotting and went to ER because I paniced and they did ultrasound and showed small tear in placenta and no heartbeat yet but when I saw my OB she said it could be too early and put me on bed rest for few days, I have been taking it easy and cut hours back on work and avoid lifting and doing anything strenuous.  I have a follow up ultrasound this week.    I am so concerned that something is gonna happen or turn this into miscarriage.  Has anyone experience this before and if so what was the outcome?

Yes, I have had a tear in my placenta in two different pregnancies. They found mine when I was further along, one at 14 weeks and one at 20 weeks. I was having spotting and sharp pain. I was put on strict bed rest (both at home and in the hospital) and both babies hung in there. The key for my situation was the very strict bed rest. The tears (one was 10cm and in the other preg it was 2cm) almost completely healed themselves with the rest. One of my babies was quite small when born (at full term) but is fine now.

I started bleeding real bad yesterday and passed huge clot, I went to ER and they did ultrasound and showed no growth since last ultrasound.  I have another one scheduled tonight and doctor appt tomorrow morning I will know more.  The ER doctor said it looks like start of misscarriage.  I am so terrified.

Oh no!! I am so sorry to hear this!! It doesn't sound like things are going well, but I will hope for you that there is a miracle and that in your next u/s you get good news! Remember too, this is not your fault. You are not to blame- you did nothing to cause this and there is no way to predict if someone is going to have a placenta tear or not--it just happens, so in all of this, don't blame yourself, ok? I went through self-blame with mine even though I knew it was not my fault, I felt responsible which only made things worse. Keep your chin up and let us know how things turn out tonight (and tomorrow).

Thanks for your thought...sorry it took me so long to get back.  I had the ultrasound Thursday but ultrasound tech is not permitted to tell me anything but when I went to doctor on Friday she confirmed it was a miscarriage.  I had a D&C&E on Monday and now just trying to cope.  Once i get a regular period we are going to try again.  I think that will be the easiest way to get through this because now I want one even more.
