Prilosec OTC ok when you are pregnant?

by happymom3, Dec 03, 2006 12:00AM
Can you take prilosec over the counter when you are pregnant? I am 13 weeks and am DYING with heartburn. I don't know where to look to see if it's ok. (I want to take it tonight)

YES!  That is what my OB told me to take.  He said if that didn't work then he'd prescribe Nexium.  Thankfully it did the trick...and I'm even more thankful that I have had ZERO heartburn since being pregnant.  :)

i'd start with something smaller, like Tums.... but they do prescribe prevacid and similar drugs when regular antacids don't work.

I have heard that drink a spoonfull of vinegar gets rid of heartburn, never tried it but it might be worth it!
