I live with an R.N. (registered nurse) who says that if your blood sugar level drops too low, and you don't eat right away, your body will produce it's own sugars to bring it back up a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys bit. Does anyone know if there's any truth to that? 'Cause if there's not, I may have a problem.... :-S This morning when I woke, my Blood sugar level was at 97... I drank some coffee with splenda in it- (Neither of which is supposed to raise your sugar level) and went to church. During church, I could feel the level dropping... by the time I got home, I was at 100.
I don't know completely about this. I know your body will try to produce what it needs. However, coffee probably would cause your numbers to go up some even without the sugar, and splenda does contain some sugar, that is why it is not an aspartame (which isn't really safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex during pregnancy). Anyway, your number isn't what I would call low, that is a normalNormal saline flush range number. Low would be in the 70's or lower, then you might need to worry. Check with your doctor if you are in doubt.
I know 100 isn't low.... I didn't know that coffee could bring it up at all...(or splenda) because my dietician told me that neither would bring it up at all... I was just wondering if maybe my body had compensated for the drop by producing a small amount of it's own sugar like the R.N. says it does... Thank you!!!
I don't think all the science is in yet about Splenda. It sounds like others have experienced what you have - a rise in blood sugar after drinking things sweetened with Splenda. The manufacturer says it's not true, but the glory of the internet is you can listen to the actual people's experiences.
Best wishes! Maybe you can use coarse brown sugar, or honey in your coffee?
