Safe home cleansers for pregnancy and children

I am not currently pregnant but actively trying and we have a 2 yo son.  We are going to be moving soon and I'll be doing a lot of cleaning and was curious if you use a cleaning product that you feel comfortable using while pregnant or around your children?  I haven't really researched cleaning products safety while pregnant but just the fumes alone make me nervous to use them while pregnant.  With my first pregnancy I got lucky and my DH would clean the bathrooms so I didn't have to breath that stuff in.  That's probably not going to happen this time! :)

There was a really great article on this in "mothering" a few months back. u r right to be concerned, the cleaners these days r horrible!! I will try to find the article for u. If not u can purchase some natural stuff at Whole Foods or ur local natural health store. Good luck!

Whole Foods is a great place to find safe non-toxic cleaners.
The name brand Seventh Generation is one of my favorites.
But there are all kind of different ones out there. if you dont live by a Whole Foods alot of other organic food stores sell these types of cleaners.

You are def. right to be concerned.  Household cleaners are so toxic and harmful to us and our children.  After Jayden was born we switched our entire home over and now use safe, natural-based cleaners.  We can even get personal care products that are safe..shampoos (for kids too), deodorant, hair care products, soaps, lotions, etc!  Most people don't know that Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo has formaldahyde in it!!!  They call is by the trade name Quaternium-15.  Not good stuff at all.  You should check out this show that was done by CBC Canada back in 2001 on their Marketplace health watch show.  It is alot like our Dateline or 20/20.  It is a real eye-opener for sure!  Go to: http://www.whyarewepoisoningourchildren.com and you can watch it.  Oprah did one such show recently too.  You will prob. need Real Player to watch it, but it is DEFINITELY something to see!  After having my son I got on Amazon.com and bought sme books...Home Safe Home and The Safe Shoppers Bible.  Good reads!  More and more people are becoming aware of the junk they sell us in stores and some people think it's safe if they sell it but I learned through these books that there are NO regulations on cleaning and personal care products.  Many are cancer causing and they still sell that garbage.  I am so glad you are thinking about cleaning safer!

METHOD cleaners fit that criteria, and what's great is that they're available at Target and Walmart.  I also like their neat packaging/bottles.  Hope this helps.
