Shingles?

by hoogie, Mar 07, 2007 12:00AM
Hi,
My husband has shingles.  I am not pregnant but we plan on trying soon.  Does anyone know if there is any risk with TTC.  He is on an antiviral.  Thanks.

Make sure you are immune to chicken pox before trying. He could have outbreaks and be contagious through early pregnancy (it can come and go).  Its a simple blood test.

You can't get shingles from DH, but you could get chicken pox if you've not had them already or been vaccinated against them.

Getting chicken pox during the first half of pg could lead (VERY small chance, though) to certain birth defects.
