We have a Heart beat!

by tresmathews, Nov 16, 2004 12:00AM
It took her almost 10 minutes to find but it was beating a strong 154 which is the same as DD's was the very first time. We have our u/s set for Dec. 14th at 5pm eastern.

So good for you!  You haven't had any u/s yet?  I would be entirely crazy without them!  The hb is so reassuring!  jenni

awww that's sooo nice... Congratulations! I heard that a heartbeat of 144 is of a boy, and if higher than 150 is of a girl. I'm not 100% sure, but my friend's doctor told her that and she had a boy and the heartbeat of 144 or 145 all the way through.

My doctor told me my daughters heart rate was 145 and he thought she was going to be a boy! He was wrong! This time around the heart beat is close to the same he said 145-150 so he thinks a boy and he doesn't know but I looked at the u/s pictures and it is a boy!!!! So you never know! I was reading up at that old wise tales and they said it does work but it has to be the heart rate towards the end of pregnancy because the heart beat is always faster at the beginning of pregnancies!!!

I'm so happy for you, you must be on cloud nine after hearing your little ones heartbeat. DH almost started to cry when he heard the heartbeat for the first time, it's a very special moment that is the mose wonderful in the world. Our babies heartbeat was around 167-176 when i first heard it at the u/s, and now it gone down to about 140-150 so i'm still thinking that it's a boy. Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?

Congrats!!
That is wonderful news. I'll never forget when DH and I heard the heartbeat for the first time with this baby. It's such an emotional thing especially if you've had a m/c before. I can't remember what DD heartbeat was that was 7yrs ago, but this one's is always in the 140's and it's a little boy.
Good luck to you, it sounds like everything is going to work out just fine.

Hey guys........this heart beat thing has me thinking. I have never heard of determining the sex by the heartbeat. I am 21 weeks and my babies heart beat has been around 170-177 and I am supposedly having a boy...... MMMMMMM Something to think about.... Any thoughts on this?????????????//

Hey congratulations!!!!   :)  What did the sono measure?  exactly what you thought?

I had pretty major cramps tonight, so I kept checking for blood.  So far nothing and the cramps stopped.  I was really sick this morning and had to take my medicine for morning sickness.  I'm wondering if the surge in hormones this morning meant the baby was growing.  I would guess so judging from the cramps.  I'm glad I have a doctor's appointment Thursday.. it'll be nice to hear a heartbeat after those cramps.  I think if something would have been wrong there would have been blood right away?  they were pretty obvious.

Well congrats!  momttc

Thanks for your well wishes ladies.

Deb- How did your appt go?

Momttc - I don't get my u/s until dec. 14th. We got to hear the HB with the Dopplar.

Hopefully this one won't be as shy as DD. When we have our u/s on the 14th they should be able to tell us as long as the peanut cooperates. That way I can get the room ready and have everything done ahead of time.
