What is a typical 5 month old doing?

What is a typical 5 month old doing?

My DD will be 5 months on the 14th.  My DS is almost 4 and did everything really early.  He rolled over at 10 weeks, crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 months.  My DD just rolled over for the first time last night from her back to her tummy.  She is laughing and communicating with us a lot, but seems in no hurry for any gross motor things.  Is she doing what a typical 5 month old is?  I am trying not to compare her to my son because I know he was an early developer, but it is hard not to when that is all you have ever experienced.

Dont worry, they all do it at different times.  Is your DD an easier baby?  More calm?  Was she calm in the womb?

My DD rolled at 3 mo, sat up at 4.5 mo, crawled at 5.5 mo, and standing alone at 8 mo but my friend's baby-same age 6 days older-didnt sit up until 6 mo and is almost 9 mo and not crawling...He was way more calm in her belly and is a much quieter baby...mine is all over the place and never stopped kicking in the womb.  She's so active and into everything now- so I am praying that the next one is calm and quiet!  :0)

She is much more calm.  She is so content and happy!  My DS was ready to walk from day one and wasn't happy until he did!  I know they all do things differently, it is just hard to not compare.

the more you have, the slower they start to do things.  but once they get going, watch out!!!  my dd is 5.5 mos, and she can roll , but doesnt do it very often, she can go backwards intentionally in her walker, but has no interest in sitting up for long.  but, being the youngest, there is always someone handing her a toy, or talking to her, so she doesnt feel the need to look for entertainment, not to mention she doesnt get much floor time because of everyone else running around.  she also gets carried around alot because i have to care for the other 5.  but now, i changed her schedule a little bit so she has about an hour at nap time and and hour after everyone elses bedtime so she has to work and play on her own, and shes improving.

Every child does everything at their own pace.  If her pediatrician is not concerned, neither should you.

dd is 5 1/2 months (will be 6 months on the 16th). she is also a very happy baby. she has only rolled over about 5 times, and only from belly to back. she gets tons of tummy time, and doesn't mind it which i think contributes to the lack of rolling- no motivation. she also loves being on her back and playing with her feet. she just started really sitting this weekend. she went from being floppy to sitting a 20 minute stretch in one day. she loves her exersaucer and turns deliberately in both directions.
i know it's hard not to compare them. a coworker had her baby the very same day and we were comparing notes today. her baby is rolling all over the place. i have to keep in mind dd was 4 weeks early too. she has always been ahead socially though. i'm just gonna enjoy her cause she's changing so quick. i think these past 2 weeks have been the biggest as far as changes.

My second baby is way more laid back, not in such a hurry.  He crawled later, rolled later, even sat later.  At 9 months he is kinda starting to pull up some, but could care less about standing, walking will be a ways off for him.  My first one was a goer, it's hard not to compare them, but they really are all different.  Your little one sounds right on to me.
