Zantac for heartburn

by KellyTexas, Oct 10, 2007 05:26PM
Has anybody been okay'd to take Zantac for heartburn?  It was the only thing that worked on me before my pregnancy and now I'm afraid to take it.  I'll ask tomorrow, but thought I'd ask if any of you had used it?

I didn't take Zantac, but I was ok'd for Prevacid during my first pregnancy.  They all vary in their classes so I would just check with your doctor on what the rating is and decide the best option.  Good luck!

My OB said to take Tums, but on the list of ok meds during pregnancy that she gave me, Zantac is ok.

YEah,  I take Pepcid AC every day-  my doc said to do that to keep mine in check...  I think zantac is the same!

I was given Zantac with my first, but something had come out about testosterone levels after the fact, my cousin (a pharmacist) said there wasn't any conclusive proof. But with my second a new OB gave me Tagamet.

If you are getting frequent heartburn, avoid taking tums too often as they generally contain sodium and the calcium can be an issue.
