anyone else here asthmatic? i'm about 20.5 weeks, asthma controlled via inhaled steroids once a day, notice i'm getting wheezier when lying down toward the end of the day. anyone else experienced this? i consulted the allergy/asthma dr, need to measure the peak flow and get back to him, but wondering how common this is... and if albuterol is OK to use. thanks in advance.

I am asthmatic but i'm not in your stuation yet. I am 13 weeks.  I have been using my inhalor (albutrol) almost everyday, as needed.  My nurse said it was ok to use as much as needed.  Two weeks ago I came down with a cold and I had to use my nebulizer. I called the nurse and she also said it was ok.  I went to safefetus.com and did a little research on my own and basically, there hasn't been enough studies done on the asthmatic mothers and the use of albutrol.  Sad but true.  But if you read the drug information that comes in the box with the inhaler, it may have some information regarding pregnant mothers and the percentage of birth defects. I'm also concerned about this but it seems no one know the effects on the fetus.  But I think that it's far worse than not being able to breath and therefore, he/she not getting enough oxygen from us.  Which is what my nurse told me regarding the use of the inhaler and nebulizer.
