does this sound like a diaper rash or virus rash or something???

okay so DS never had diaper rashes.. the last time he had one was when he was in the private in home daycare... so thursday at work..he had 3 cases of the runs.. they said that he couldnt come in the next day...so his dad being off of work stayed at my place with him(if i missed friday i couldnt get paid for monday-the long weekend) soooo when i got home i was playing with ds and cuddling and he pooped so i had to change his bum...it was SOOOOOOO RED i was in tears for him...(i accused his father of leaving him in poopy diapers for long amounts of time and he swore she hadnt...)my mom and dad made it late friday well around 8pm..they saw cameron's bum...he would poop and immediately start crying because it burned, he wouldnt let me touch his bum...it was so sad.. it is now well looking better.. putting alot of cream everytime i change his bum...anyways, now its pink/red but with black/purple bruising or so it looks like and some scabs...like i said DS has had a diaper rash but never this bad.. my mom swears this isnt a diaper rash...she said it has to be some kind of virus.. he has had the runs since thursday but only 2-4 times daily and a nasty cough..sounds like croupe...he has no fever though..

Does he have the rash anywhere besides the diaper area?

hmm... if it's only in the diaper area, i suspect it's from the diarrea (diarrhea). every now and then when DD has tummy troubles the poop is so acidic it seems to burn her bum immediately, even if i change her right away. it also happens when she is teething. As long as it's continuing to look better, keep doing what you're doing. DD had a viral rash recently, but it was after a very high fever (105 +) and it was all over her torso. looked similar to heat rash.

thanks..he has a slight fever and is now sleeping.. his 2 top eye teeth are finally in, but i think the bottom ones are making their way through as well.. so it could be all kinds of mixed things...its soo sad..he's been sick but for some reason this cant compare because he seems in pain, tries not to cough..
