fetal cystic hygroma

by worried mom to be, Feb 16, 2007 12:00AM
I went for a 13 week u/s yesterday and was told that our baby had a cystic hygroma the specialist has recommended termination because she feels that there will be multiple problems or genetic problem. we are going for a CVS test on monday.
all the reading i have done on-line has not given me any hope. We are distraught over all this we went yesterday not even worried about this. We both walked out of the office feeling like we were just run over by a train!!!

hey i just wanted to say that I am sorry about your news that you found out about your baby.  I just went through the same thing, we lost our little girl at 16 weeks from cystic hygroma and fetal hydrops.  But just dont give up hope because there are miracles, and you have to be strong for your baby as your family.  God has a plan, and i just wanted to say that everything will be okay whether your little one pulls through or not.  Hopefully if your baby just has the hygroma, and no other genetical defects, that maybe the hygroma will shrink, and which it can if your baby's lympmatic system develops, and connects normaly, so the fluid will drain normaly.  I will pray for you! and let us know what happens!
