food safety questions

I have avoided the foods I know im not supposed to eat but wasnt sure about some others. Well, I went for dinner last night and although my dr said it was ok to have crab and shrimp I ate calamari and dont think that is part of the same food group. I am concerned because I had alot! Today im nervous and really didnt think about it while I was eating it. Do any of you eat shellfish? Whats your opinion? :)

Im 9wks 2days preggo.

I'm pretty sure the only thing you're really supposed to avoid are some types of fish with high levels of mercury.  All other types of seafood are fine as long as you only have them once or twice a week.  I have read this in at least three different pregnancy books.  Don't worry about the calamari

Raw fish, like sushi, fish with high mercury levels, and fish with high PCB levels (often caught in mountain lakes where the PCBs have concentrated) are the ones to avoid.

You are fine.  I figure if I dont have it more than once per week, Ill be fine and I think Im being too conservative.  If it makes you feel better, I had shrimp(lots) and crab last night and Im going to a lobster-fest next month.  Pretty much follows the same rule as everything else- eat in moderation.  Also as the previous post stated, stay away from raw fish.
