Difficult to tell whether the problems you are having are the result of the Prozac or simply early pregnancy symptoms.  In any event, Prozac is a pregnancy category C drug, which means that while SOME studies seemed to demonstrate problems with it, others have not.  It should ONLY be used if CLEARLY needed for depression, not just so you can get along with your husband and kids.

Here's what I found.  Don't be frightened, because basically it boils down to some research indicates an association with problems, and others dont.  But again, it should ONLY be used if absolutely necessary and under your doctors supervision--one who knows you are pregnant.

Great.  Sounds like you have things well in hand.

You never know in these days of everything being on the computer--I know a girl who gets all sorts of prescription drugs on the internet.  Many people do, and it is frightening!

I hope you feel better, and I wish I could be of some help.  Take the lowest dose you can, and hopefully you are also in therapy.  Good luck and best wishes.

Hello, I had talked with you about it. I take PaxilCR. Only 12.5 mg. Very low dose. I probably take it 1 time every 3 days. I take it for anxiety and slightly for depression. Depression is not one of my main problems though. My anxiety totally gets out of control then does my attitude due to the anxiety. I tried to get off when I got pregnant but it was just too much. I probably could use a higher dose but since I am pregnant and choose to take as little as I can to take the edge off. Now when I have this little sweet baby that dose may go WAYYYYYYY up! Just joking!Or not! Soemtimes one kind of med that works for one person may not work for another but you may want to ask about the Paxil. For me, I have not had any side effects even when I took the higher dose. Good luck! Danielle

I am on effexor for PTSD and was told it was safer to take during my pregnancy.  My son and I had complications after the section that may have been attributed to the medication.  The doctors have no way of knowing.

The next pregnancy, if I am cleared to try and have another child, I will not be allowed to take any medication at all.  I still do not know if I can have a child again or why my child died.

I do not want to scare you but if you have not taken anything for depression before be careful there are many side effects to these drugs.  I was on Paxil for two years and was on the maximum dosage and the side effects of this drug can cause your symptoms to be worse.

Make sure to talk to your doctor about the side effects and your pregnancy.

i have a question/concern/comment about taking these and stopping them while pg.....

for most people you should just stop taking these drugs and they shouldn't be simply weened either.
i have a friend that weened off her antidepressent and without the other recommended treatments to go with the weening she had one doosy of a psychotic episode where she locked herself in a closet.
i realize that sometimes these meds are neccessary but i erge/ and ask if the same steps are needed to stop taking them at the end of a pregnancy.......one of the treatments is to be on a regular exercise program....obviously at 30-35 weeks pg you aren't going to start an exercise program.

Just curious of the side effects.  I tried Paxil, Zoloft and Prozac and was helped w/ the depression symptoms, but not w/ weight gain and stuff.  anyone know of any natural remedies? I think I am definitely super depressed.
