my baby has a lump on back of his head

I noticed this morning that my 5 month old has a soft lump on the back of his head, just above his neck but on the head though. It's the size of a golf ball, it seems like a swollen spot. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. I just called the nurse line and they were gonna call back in 1 hour. Can someone give me some advice as to what it might be??

hi DD has a small lump on the back of her head too. although it is only the size of a dime and on her right side I was concerned but her ped. said it was a lympnode(spelling?) so that may it but I would get it checked. anyway hope its nothing to worry about.

my youngest had 2 on the back of her head when she was a baby and the doctor told me they were lymph nodes also!! But like becca said you may still want to get it checked just to be safe
