i went for an ultrasound, they said the baby measured at 6 weeks but there was no heartbeat. is it possible that the baby can still be alive?

Hi!  I would say, don't stress about it too much.  It is normal not to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks.  In fact, some doctors wont even do an ultrasound until week 8-10 to be sure.  Did the doctor tell you to come in again for another ultrasound?  Was everything else good with the tests?  Have faith!  Your baby might still be in there!

God bless!

It may simply be too early.  I'm sure there are plans to repeat the ultrasound.

Let us know how you are doing.

Don't stress, ivz!

We just went through the same thing. Due to bleeding and cramps I had 4 U/S and 3 sets of bloodwork in 1 1/2 weeks- we saw NOTHING on any U/S!  I was sure it was over and so miserable for the week we had to wait and then the 5th U/S (only 1 wk later) found all sacs and a fetal pole and a heartbeat!

And we measured only 6w4ds, where we thought we were 7 weeks along.  A few days can make all the difference!  Let us know!

im having the same problem i measured 6 weeks 1 day and they seen the yolk sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat and the doctor is saying i should have a d&c if theres nothing in my next u/s This cannot be right. I had my last period in early october but have never had reg periods and the first appt i had the dr told me after doing an u/s i was only 3 1/2 maybe 4 wks but bc of my last period they were concerned bc they said i should have been 71/2 at the time but said its bc of irregukar periods and i just didnt ovulate when they thought. I went for my second appt 10 days later on dec 1 and the dr looked for the heartbeat didnt see one said i was 6 wks 1 day and that it was not normal bc he said u should be able to see it b4 the 6th week?!! what is going on?????
