possible missed miscarriage!?!?!?

On July 11, 2007 I went to the doctor for my first OBGYN appt. By this point I was 6 1/2 weeks by the first day of my last menstrual cycle. They did an ultrasound and they found the gestational sac, the yolk sac and the baby. They said that my sac was abnormally shaped, but I'm not sure which sac they were refering to. Furthermore, the ultrasound tech said that the baby was too small to measure and that she detected a flicker on the screen, which she believed to be the heartbeat. Although, she said it was too faint for her to pick up the sound. This past wednesday, July 18, 2007 (1 day before turning 8 weeks from the first day of my last menstrual cycle) I went back for another ultrasound. This time the ultrasound tech. said that the baby has grown and is measuring 6 weeks, which is right on cue with the day I believe we conceived. She said she detected blood flow but this time detected no heartbeat. My husband and I spoke to the doctor and he said that usually they dont detect the heartbeat until around 6 to 7 weeks of the actual measurement of the fetus. I have been having pregnancy symptoms like breast tenderness, nautiousness, increased in smell, facial breakouts and food adversions. I have NOT been cramping or bleeding. The doctor said he thinks its possible that I have had a missed miscarriage but he is not 100% sure. He had my progesterone level checked, and it is greater than 20. He said that is really good but I'm still real confused about everything, especially why a heartbeat may have been detected last week and now there isn't. If a heartbeat was detected last week then that means that the baby was 5 weeks, and that is really too soon to detect a heartbeat. I'm thinking that she never detected the heartbeat last week, which is why there is none this week, and that by next week I will see one when the baby is measuring 7 weeks! I'm just so worried something is wrong. Anyone with any kind of suggestions or opinions, I would love to hear them.

my last pregnancy we saw my baby. her heart was beating away and a couple days later i lost her. it just stopped.
