Hi and congratulations. It is very common to spot during pregnancy however no spotting should be taken without caution. Brown blood is old blood however you should definitely keep her OB informed. Best wishes and keep us informed. *grin* Jen
It is fairly common for women to spot brown in the first trimester of pregnancy. Brown is old blood that has been there and if it's happening after sex in could just be that it's getting a little irritated. If it gets worse or starts to turn to bright red blood or she starts having cramps, then you should worry and call the dr.
If she is feeling okay then I wouldn't worry too much, I had spotting with both of my children in the early weeks and I know that with your first it is scary, but try to relax. If your that worried just ask her to ask her dr. at her next appt to make sure everything is okay and to put your mind at ease. Good luck and Congratulations! Kendra
I'am so glad that I have read your concerns, I started spotting on 10/30/03 brown. I am very concerned and now i guess I have some comfort, I called an midwife and the first thing she said to me was it could be a vaginal infection/ STD but I know that that is not the case for sure. So could I be PG??? ASK YOUR WIFE DID SHE FIRST START SPOTTING BETWEEN PERIODS OR MIGHT I SAY AFTER HER FIRST LAST PERIOD?? I'AM POSTED HERE PLEASE SEND ME A RESPONSE CRISSYchris??
UPDATE - ok! i am feeling less nervous every day. My wife's intermintent brown spotting has not occurred in a week. Even after sex so I am feeling much better. We bumped up our OBGYN appt because we were quite nervous. The doctor did not let us get an ultrasound because we had one on the very first appointment. I didn't really understand why but I guess cost was a factor there. He said the uterous is growing normally and said that 1/4 pregnancies have spotting in the first trimester. Now that it has stopped, I feel much better. My wife is in her 10th week and going into her 11th. We will be in the third Trimester soon which makes me extatic.
I am posting this info so that other expected mothers and fathers who have the same thing happen to them know what to expect. We are still early and my hopes are high but every day that goes by makes me a day closer to being a father and I honestly couldn't be happier about that.
Hi!
I am currently in my 7th week, and Spotting brown a little everyday.
Rarely it is a near brick red rather than the actual brown it is almost always.
The doctor told me spotting was normal to a degree and that brown indicated old blood, but I’m not sure is ‘everyday’ is normal. And I’m not sure when it should end, because so many people have told me different time frames.
I lost a child to entopic pregnancy last year, and I spotted then too. True the spotting then led to actual bleeding, and so far I haven’t had any real bleeding but I am terrified each time I go to the bathroom-is this crazy behavior?
I have all the signs of normal pregnancy and none of the ones that indicate trouble as I had last year, but I just can’t shake the paranoia is my spotting normal, or is it telling me there is trouble again?
Every time I see a spot at all I am afraid to get excited or hopeful because the lose is so painful, and I do want to be excited, this will be our first child in nearly 9 years of trying.
Am I just freaking out?
Any advice other than ‘see your doctor’ would help. The doctor my insurance sends me too seems blasé` at best with her answers, even though I’ve expressed my concearns, which doesn’t help me feel safe or comforted at all.
Thanks!
