What a GREAT question,  Trial!

I am amazed at the two answers before me -  a cornstand,  and a slaughter house.  WOW.

I can't compare to that.  I've worked at two shoe stores,  and then innumerable social work type jobs.  I've loved everywhere I've worked.

Okay,  wait,  I worked one day chopping onions at The Big One hamburger stand.  That wasn't so great.

This is a great question/topic.

As far as best job I had (not b/c of benefits or pay) was one of my 1st ones at an Answering Service right out of High School. I worked with one of my very best friends and she was my roommate. We had so much fun at work. Made alot of friends with the girls we worked with and had an awesome boss. (well that all changed) The first 1.5 yrs of the 3 yrs I was there were a blast.

The worst job would be when I was 17 it was my SR year in HS and I applied at this run down daycare and they said do you have experience and I said well I have a friend that has 2 little boys and I play w/them alot. ( I didn't know how to answer seemed good to me) Well, that worked for them. So I showed for my first day...beebopped in w/my purse and the 1st thing they said was I wouldn't bring that in here b/c it will get stolen...uumm ok..they said go lock it in your trunk. (so i kinda had a bell going off but thought well let's see) I ended up having to carry my enormous key chain around all night b/c I had no pockets. Then they stuck me in an area and said this is your class there isn't anyone to help you tonight. I had like 23 3yr olds. So I'm sitting here (no clue what to do literally left alone) and this cranky woman comes up and says are you cooking tonight? I was like.. ummm I don't know where the kitchen is...I didn't even know that was part of the job. Then they told me it was time to take my kids to the playground... well some of my kids had on showercaps...I assumed b/c it was to not get sand in their hair. So when they took them off I didn't say anything... so the night goes on...I don't know which kids are mine which aren't. Nobody will help b/c they are all busy. (i'm not joking either) Well, the "boss" finally came to me when she chewed me out for letting them take off their shower caps...these kids had LICE! I had hair down to my waist...THICK, LONG hair. I just walked out at that point. She was laying into me like I was supposed to know anything. I went home crying to my Mom. We called the Health Department and DHS the next Monday. The place is STILL open!

Oh wow, the jobs you guys had give me the chills..at least the worst ones! Thanks for the insight! I definitely do not want to work in a slaughterhouse, at a cornstand, a shoe store nor a ...daycare! Unbelievable!
I have loved all of my construction jobs except that one day I stapled my own finger to a ceiling cladding...and I had a wide range of odd summer jobs. The very best of those was delivering mail, it`s a great outdoor workout. The very worst was being a kitchen helper. Each morning at about 4:30am I had to peel and chop a huge sack of potatoes and onions. I just hated the smell at such an early our, still have a hard time cooking my son`s lunches in the middle of the night...

Worst job,  many ,many moons ago, in a Factory watching packets of Orange powder rushing at me with clouds of Powder  coming at me ,down a shute to be packed, I had been there 2 hours and had a panic attack and Fled the place not speaking to anyone on the way, got out side gasping for air..  Best Job , easy ,Teaching and   working with children , helping them with their homework after school and tutoring , simply being around them with their ethusiasm and innocense.

Not sure if ive had a job i didnt really enjoy. I would have to say maybe Life Alert. We would call Senior Citizens to schedule appointments to have a Life Alert representative go out there. What i hated was we practically had to yell because some of these people couldnt hear you. By the end of my first week i had no voice. I stayed there a little longer than i expected.

Best Job, is the on im at now. Been here for 4 years, but i will be leaving soon :(  at first i was coming back since i was only going to be gone on maternity leave. Well plans have changed and im leaving for good :( This company has been great to me, the people who i work with and work for are great. Im going to miss them so much. Im office Manager and love it. Have a month left here :(

Worst Job... I was taken on directly under the Administrator for the Dept of medicine. at a hospital. The idea was I'd replace her after a year (she'd suffered a stroke, causing memory issues; they needed to replace her).

I found out two weeks into the job I was the THIRD person they'd tried this with. Each had left after 6 months. This...woman...sabotoged one after the other, doing her best to make their life a misery (she didn't want to give up the job).

At six months I left as well (the final straw; she'd told me to file a specific type of form in  a specific set of file cabinets on the first day. Right before the six month evaluation she stated I'd filed six months of reports in the WRONG area (I had the dictaphone tapes from the first two days instruction and checked; I was right, she was wrong).

Best job? I'd have to think on that.

Thanks for all your comments.
Margypops, clouds of orange powder...definitely something to run away from. Wonder what the product was... Juice? Exfoliating stuff? Paint?
FEOT, a job causing strain of vocal cords? Not worth it! Good for you you like your other job so much. You can still go there with baby I bet!
Savas, being stuck in a job with some human hyena is not worth the prospect of replacing her. I wouldn`t have survived 6 months... Hope a pleasant job came your way.

My best job was one that I created myself.  I work in the software industry selling software to businesses.  I needed a change and read up on what software was hot and not currently in the Canadian market.  I approached IFS and set up a meeting to discuss why they should be in Canada and why I was the person to do it.  They agreed and off I went.  I had so much fun setting up the office, hiring my team, and building the market in Canada.  I was the first woman named to the Global Management Team and had a blast travelling to different countries for our meetings.  I was very sad when they started to centralize their North American operations and decided to leave.

My worst job was my first in the software business.  I was the first employee and worked 80 hours a week building that business.  My boss was a highly unethical man who cheated the software company whose software we distributed, our customers, the tax man and his employees.  I had to manage 50 people with no office.  It is not easy running a group of developers on a remote basis.  He wrote bad contracts and I had to clean up after him to keep the company from being sued.  He would book business trips for he and I over weekends and then I would find that there was no business to be done on the weekend.  It was like he was trying to break up my marriage.  Way too much work and stress!

Silver&Gold and TrudieC, are you sure you didn`t have the same employer for your worst jobs? Sometimes white collar and blue collar work can be similar. Pigs are everywhere...
I just remembered something: it wasn`t my worst job but the first and last I ever got fired from. I had a job on the side to finance my education: I had to repair and paint areas of a nightclub a few nights a week that got demolished by drunk and raging crowds on the weekends. Their decoration resembled a village, so basically I had to recreate faux brick facades, trees, benches, window frames, even gargoyles. It required tons of plaster and tons of paint of all kinds of shades. Unfortunately the place had no budget for paint, so I had to deal with whatever was left over somewhere in the nightclub basement. Some of the paints took forever to dry because they were so old. One fine day one of the paints was not dry yet by the time the nightclub folks arrived, I think I forgot to put up signs "Wet Paint" - and next time I returned I was fired. A customer had ruined her shirt. I still cringe thinking about it.
