Menopause/blackouts

I am 62 yrs. old, in menopause for years now.  Within the past year I have experienced overpowering smells, and  blackouts.  The other day I found myself standing, unaware of how I got there, unaware of anything around me.  Somehow I realized I was in the wrong place, turned around and walked to where I was supposed to be.  These "blackouts" only last a few seconds, while my eyes are open I'm not "seeing" anything or hearing anything.  I had three episodes of smelling a strong odor that morning, to the point that I had to hold my nose closed.  For two or three days afterward I have a bad taste in my mouth and food doesn't taste right.  Any ideas?

Thank you for your answer.  I did forget to mention that after each "smell" episode I do get a headache so your comment makes me feel a whole lot better.  I just wish this hadn't happened out in public where people I know saw me.

Migraines comes to mind.  They are not all marked by pain, there are some rather obscure painless kinds.
