Strange Headache

I started having these headaches at the beginning of second semester freshman year, so about a year ago. I've told my grandparents but they just think it's just a normal headache thing that runs thought the family. It starts in the lower right side in my head and spreads and feels like my head will explode. One time it lasted a while week. They don't give me migraine symptoms it just hurts a lot. And sometimes I just stare off in space for no reason at random times when I have to headache. I'm worried because I'm only 15 and I don't have a lot of stress... I am a goalie in soccer though, could that have anything to do with it?

Hi Ashley,

Many a student has written to Medhelp regarding your situation.  Many times stress and anxiety may be the root cause of the head pain, especially as the course requirements become intense and unfamiliarity with coursework adds up.  If it becomes more of a problem talk to a Neurologist however in the mean time find various meditation groups at your college and while on break, learn about ways to meditate and find a exercise program you might like.  With all the amenities you are paying for at college you might as well take full advantage of them.  Good luck.

Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community.

It could be a migraine and maybe not. You don't have to have other symptoms for it to be a migraine...it just means you CAN have other symptoms with the pain.
Excedrin is an excellent migraine medication. You can try it for a week or so and see if it helps. If not, you then y'all may want to consider a Dr appt.
