ARBs can treat and prevent migraine - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/20086184/. I guess it works like beta blockers.
That is very interesting Sore.
Hi,I have suffered from miagraine headaches from early childhood, doctors always said that I would grow out of them. But now at 49Yrs of age I was still suffering headches, the headaches were not prone to one erea of my head. Some times it would behind my left eye only, other times it would be in the back of my neck and could last for 3 to 4 days.Headaches that would thump when you bent over ,lost a lot of hours being down with a miagraine headache.Pain killers with codiene would be the only relief,I made a visit to the doctor about 4 months ago for a check up.I was diagnosed with a slight blood pressure issue and was prescribed a blood pressure tablet called Micardis.Only take 40 miligrams, I dont know the reason why but I have had no miagraines since taking this medication.I could not have had high blood pressure when I was a child so Im putting it down to maybe an ingredients in this medication.I had to get a new script and was given the generic brand if micardis and I had a few miagraine symptoms again.Switched back to the marcardis brand ,and back to being headache free.It has mad a big difference to my life having headaches and being unable to do what you want to do because of this horrible problem.Dont know if this will help anybody else but itd help me.
How far along are you? I'm 14 weeks and been in excruciating pain for the past 18hrs. Can't get any sleep. Now I just start to feel really crampy in my lower abdomen. My BP is raising too. I've heard some women get migraines before an impending miscarriage. I'm really worried about the baby now... How did your migraine resolve?
Welcome to the Migraines and Headaches Community.
Try an ice pack if you can lay down. You can also try one of those cloth headbands, wear it like a bandanna. The reason is applying light pressure to those dilated blood vessels does give some relief. You can also put Mentholatum on your forehead and temples...it is very soothing and can be done with or without the headband, depending on if you like the heat.
Hi,
A non pharmaceutical option you might consider is called EEG Neurofeedback to help desensitize the brain and central nervous system from over organizing due to external migraine triggers. It is safe for you and your baby.

Have you tried magnesium?
