I looked in my literature and some people do get nausea. I did with my first dose but it was really mild and it was at night and I just went back to sleep and when I woke up I was fine. I usually get home from work and take an Aleve (Rx strength) and then take my shot about an hour later. Well I got home late after a very rough day and fell asleep on the couch and just went to bed, I should have waited until the night to take my shot but wanted to get it over with and took it during the day. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
I also didn't drink enough water that day I don't think. I usually have to drink a lot of water the day before and of and after I take my shot.
I have been on Avonex for 3 years, and always do my shot before bed. At that time I take 2 Aleve as well.
I rarely ever get any reaction, but the few times I have, it's been headache, chills, muscle aches and that general flu feeling. More Aleve or ibuprofin takes care of that, though it can be truly miserable while it lasts. I have never heard of nausea, etc., being part of this process.
The best idea is to sleep through whatever reaction there will be (maybe none), and premedicate for the symptoms.
Good luck with this.
