Another thought for the limbo-ers

Hi all you people in my boat!

#1:

We need a boat name, thought about the Titanic but felt a bit negative and morbid.  What do you guys think of:

Festivus - all you Seinfelders will know this one.  It is a made up Holiday and the term is "a festivus for the rest of us"

Penn wrote yesterday and mentioned her wonderful "festivities" were starting up again and I liked that humorous terminology of our horrendous journey.

#2:
I have been thinking lately that my last 2 neuros have used my previous records as more proof that there is nothing wrong because "well Dr. K did not think there was anything wrong".  The Mayo clinic neuro I saw actually sed the exact terminology of "hypervigilence" in her report that my first neuro had stated in his records.  Also this neuro #4 I am seeing changed his mind about my EEG and my double vision after reading my Mayo clinic records.

I think that providing them an easy out is what I am doing by providing the records.  I don't think I am going to give office visit notes anymore, just test results and that's it.  What do you guys think?

I like SS WTF myself but then I have a sick sense of humor so if it offends others sorry!

as far as notes I am not taking them anymore it seemed to hurt me more then help. So now I let the doctor act like he knows all and then ask questions in a dumb way like I am uninformed to get my answer. If the boat doc is just blowing steam out of his blow hole then I may move on or make another appoint with a longer list of my history.
Subject to change my mind after tomorrows Neuro results!!

hate limbo land want off our boat the service is less then I expected for sure most cruise lines are so much better then this one and not nearly as long!!!!! LOL

Wanna - Yes, Festivus does involve a pole and I would personally like to be the one who sticks mine up neuro #1's &^%.  Oh my did I say that out loud?!!
There are also the feats of strength ceremony and I think at this point the people with the braces will win, but I would love a shot at Dr. WTF!!!!

Quix - Loved your name!!

Cjacks - Thanks for your info, to think that we would be paying them for their OWN opinion, who would have thought that one up??  DUH!!

The rheumy I just stopped seeing never did an exam on me - AT ALL!!  He basically just read my test results to me and said "I can explain everything from the waist down but it is the waist up that puzzles me".  Funny my husband said that on our wedding night too, LOL!!!  Wish I didn't have to pay $300 that I can't afford to have him tell me that one!!

Rock on Jo!!

Have a funny day today all!!

How about  The SS- Blowing In The Wind ,   I usually feel like I've been set adrift..
Or              The SS-Treasure Island  ,         you never know what you're going to find
                    "     "      "        Map                               or where

M.    Jack like limbo rock

DON'T send ALL notes.  Mine were sent to my first neuro, the big ms specialist in town. I got to the office .  He had reviewed the notes while I waited for him . He read ONE part that speculated on mercury poisoning the year before and sent his nurse in to tell me the group would not see me and sent me home.  What a guy ! !   Neuro-Jerk ! !

Now I TAKE ( when I can ) only tests and labs .

Rock on      I feel silly this morning   Thanks

Hey Kristin…if I recall correctly, the Festivus celebration involves a pole…and I don’t think our brain fog would prevent any of us from coming up with some creative things to do with that pole!

Whatever the boat is called, I just know I want to get the f*** off the d*** thing!

Also, by providing office notes you are providing opinion.  What you want is another opinion so just provide test results and let the new guy form his/her own, fresh opinion.

Thanks for the fun thread!

I love naming the "Limbo boat"!!  I'm not that creative with names, but I do like the U.S.S. WTF  :-).

I also would suggest just taking lab and test results.  That is what I provide to each of my docs.  I usually drop off a copy a few days before my appt, so they have time (hopefully) to look at it.  I like to stick with "just the facts".

Good luck!

Take care, Pat :)

Hi kristin,
I would recommend only taking lab and test results.  Craig stopped taking doctor reports with him.  Some of the neuros implied that he was wasting time going to doctors and had an opinion of him as a doctor shopper before they even did the exam.

So when Craig went to Univ of Maryland, all we gave the neuro was test results and that worked much better!!

  Good Luck,

Hi There!

How about S.S. WTF??   Or in my case OTF....lol

As far as your point #2 goes, I am in the same "boat" as Moki.....I'm in Ontario, Canada and everything is sent to the Specialist way before we arrive....
But, I still have faith!  Hurry up May 14th!!!

As an ex-limbolander, I'm trying to come up with some more names to consider. It's sure not the Loveboat!  It's not a Carnival Cruise, either, though that is festive. Well, I'll mull it over, and others will have lots of good ideas.

About old files and new doctors, I wouldn't be above a little pussyfooting. You can certainly take with you just lab reports. Why not? Are there other records, you might be asked? You could 'guess that you'd left them at home for some reason.'  (A good reason!). Or oops, must not have brought those, and offer to bring them the next time. At that point you could say, Oh well, maybe you'd like to form your own impressions today anyway. What doctor would then say, Oh no, I don't have any impressions, I just get them from other doctors' reports. Hah, that won't be admitted. So then the doctor has to start at the beginning without preconceived ideas.

Pretty sneaky, true, but then I can be pretty sneaky in a good cause.

Good luck.   ess

Hi there girl. How are you? I like that idea. Festivus is good, although I usually call my boat the SS Flounder, as that  is what I feel I'm doing with those neuros, floundering.lol

As for the office notes, it may be a good idea not to give them. I find here in Canada, that our files get sent to each specialist when the gp refers you. So they can read up on what anyone else had to say. I think a good neuro would want to come to his own conclusion, but that does not seem to be the case. It's easier to say "oh well you have been there and they didn't think anything was wrong so I guess they're right."  That is just my humble opinion.

Hugs
