That happens to me. I run in to things apparently, and don't know and end up with cuts and bruises. I do not know if MS is the cause, or something else. I also have hyper sensitivity to certain sensations, its WEIRD!
Yes and that wasn't the only incident like that. Just a few weeks ago I scraped my shin on something and only discovered it when I went to take a shower. That one was really strange. Didn't feel it when I scraped it, but it stung like crazy when the water hit it. Makes no sense to me at all. LOL
I guess you never watched the TV show House then. They were always giving people an MS diagnoses, but eventually ruling it out.

Thank you for the responses! Sarah, there have been a couple of times I felt like I was going to fall, so very scary!
Dennis, I'm so sorry you have been dealing with the numbness for so long and drop foot. Must have been so alarming to see the blood and yet not feel the incident that caused it!
My husband and I went to see a movie last night, no way I could have made it into and out of the theater without his arm to hang on to, it was a real struggle. We saw Trainwreck, and the main character's dad had MS (in real life too), first time I've ever seen a movie, or TV show for that matter, where MS is even mentioned. To others in the audience, I'm sure that part of the story line had little to no impact. For me, it was heartbreaking.
I pray every day that a cure is found!

I wish, sort of, that I had that problem. With me it is the opposite. Most of the time I don't feel it when I run into something.
One time I got up from the sofa to go to the bathroom and noticed red splotches all over the place in my house. Turns out I had cut the side of my foot open (around2 inch long gash) and had been bleeding for quite a while as I walked around.
Both of my feet have been numb for around 15 or so years so I have gotten use to the way they feel. I usually end up taking a nap if I have been up on my feet for any length of time. I also need to get new shoes quite often as I wear out the right shoe from dragging it (foot drop).

I just go "down" or as they say, the floor meets me halfway! Occasionally I can't move one leg or the other, it just seems to be asleep and can't bear any weight.
Like Alex, I can't stand for long periods but one trip around Wal Mart does me in for walking.
Your right the nerves are sensitive it is like hitting your funny bone. Nerve drugs like gabenpentin help.
I use crutches for standing. I can walk I just can't stand for periods of time.
