Back on track this week

Last week was tough on most of us with thoughts of twopack hanging on every word we shared. I know Mary would urge us all to get back in the saddle.  So how about we give it a try.

As is our tradition we try to start the week by sharing events coming this week that you want us to know about.  So what do you have happening this week?

We  have tickets to see the Temptations on wednesday. I hope the weather is good be cause it is outdoors what so you have going on this week? Hugs to all! Laura

This is a pretty good week for me. My fatigue seems less than the last few weeks and I administer my third shot of Rebif tonight.  Feeling proactive, and dare I say it? Normal. :-)

Aside from work, I have my Tysabri infusion Wednesday, and Thursday I'm going down south to visit my dad.  He's 85, and skating that fine line between congestive heart failure and kidney failure.  He's being good on his kidney failure diet (so he says), but I guess we'll see. My sis will join me on this trip.

Have a good week, everybody!

Kyle - no we didn't eat there but I do know the place.  We had a great meal at Saltlik Steakhouse on our last night.  If you return to Banff you must eat there!  So good!

it's so nice to read normal life is happening this week for so many - even if that includes smashed cars (sorry Cubbies) or flooded cities.  I hope everyone makes the most of what they have happening this week.

I had my latest and last for a while PTSD therapy session today. I have been sick (MS wise) for almost a week now and my therapist noticed right away that I was not doing very good. In fact she mentioned that I looked horrible. :)

I have been having a lot of nausea, balance problems, light headed, dizzy, right side of face numb, and really weak and aching legs. While in the hallway waiting to see my shrink several medical persons that waked by me asked if I was OK.

We spent most of the session talking about how my MS was acting up and that it might be the stress of the PTSD sessions causing my MS to flare up. Since this was my last session with this therapist since she is leaving the VA we decided that I should take a break from the PTSD therapy and then maybe do it not as aggressively as they had been doing it this time.

PS I saw 5 deer on my trip up to the VA today and last week was 3 deer that included 2 fawns.

I just finished a week celebrating all our family birthdays. Both of my sons and I have birthdays in the same week. Followed immediately by Father's Day. Lots of fun and way too much food!
Now we have been very busy buying up things for my sons new apartment. He will be moving in on Saturday July 6th. It will be his first apt. since college so he really needs everything- furniture, kitchen stuff, etc. Lots of shopping means a lot of walking for me. It has been good for me and I am so happy because I have been able to shop for hours without tiring out :) I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. The Gilenya is really working for me- yay!!!!

Have a great week friends,
Deb

Uneventful week until Friday, next Tysabri infusion due then, a chance to go downstate to a "big" city (snicker) i.e., target, JoAnn, Sams, etc., which the upper half of the state does not have........told you we were in the woods !

Will always hold Mary in our memories and attempt to be as brave as some of our forum members who continue to inspire us.

A gathering in the neighbor's deep woods on Sunday, an annual thing, our last but looking forward to gathering with good friends.

Everyone have a good week, I continue to carry my tomato plant outdoors in good weather, powdering it against the bugs who cut off baby tomatoes and bring it back into the living room "greenhouse" on lousy days.............unable to have an outdoor garden this year for several reasons....

"Funny though I will go camping in USA .." That's OK Cann. I spent the 4th of July in Canada last year :-)

DV- I suppose you could have been stuck in worse places :-) Any chance you ate at Barpa Bill's while in Banff?

Tomorrow's a triple header for me; 2:00 appointment with my Naturopathic doc, 3:45 MRI(PML screening) and 4:45 Biannual appointment with my neuro. I'm very lucky on that they are all at the same place :-)

Back home today, safe and sound, after being stranded in thr town of Banff in the Rocky Mountains.  Severe rain and floods washed out part of the Trans-Canada Highway, and the back roads were closed due to mudslides, high water, etc.  We made the best of it, enjoying the gorgeous mountain town, enjoying some beautiful meals, taking photos, etc.  The streets were nearly empty and its kinda nice for the tourists, not great for business owners who lost a lot of money this weekend.  Then the night before we leave, there's a power plant explosion and lost power till the morning.  Hotel staff took good care of us.  Cell phone/911 service was lost, might still be out, hot a good situation.

We left this morning and the normally 80 min drive took 6 hours, but it was a gorgeous day for the most part with more gorgeous Rocky Mountain scenery.

We see our in-laws off tomorrow as they return to PEI.  A kind of an odd vacation for them but they were troopers and seemed to enjoy it.

I will spend the week baking for a group who supplies meals to mothers in need; many of our clients are new moms and/or moms who have cancer and other serious, debilitating diseases, including MS, who need the extra support with healthy meal prep.

I'll also staying tuned to the flood covereage and keeping my eye out for ways I can help.  The needs are pretty overwhelming right now.  I feel very lucky we aren't directly affected (though my spouse will be unable to work for the next few days as downtown clean up and surveying of damage must be completed).  So'll help in whatever way we can.  This is a wonderful, well run city and I look forward to things being rebuilt and returning back to normal.

Thanks to all who commented on my Copaxone - missed doses thread.  Turns out I missed three in total, so will take the next one 12 hours after the last one, so that should squeeze an extra one in safely.  Feeling fine and no different than when I take a shot or when I miss a shot.

LESSON LEARNED.  Trust me.  I will be MUCH better prepared next time!!

@Laura and Ren
You've both done your friend proud - the tone of the tributes, the acknowledgement of what she meant to the community, the information given to members. There's an ongoing memorial to her in the spirit of the forum. A personal thanks from me for the way everything has been handled.

@Alex Now you're talkin'! Sounds like so much fun.

@Cubbiesfan918 Oh, no! But thank goodness you were at your desk! I hope the insurance powers that be get it all straightened out. Then I wish you a very, very QUIET four months. :)

@Cann1980 That's a really positive approach! If you're dealing with things you can't control (future appointments, test results, etc) doing something that makes you feel good is oftentimes just the ticket. A great manicure and a camping trip? Perfect strategy!

I'm getting into the swing of things on my course and am really relishing having a set schedule and place to be every day. This is a first since I was diagnosed and is doing wonders for my mindset and self-confidence. Being a student and having some way of identifying yourself outside of 'unemployed' or 'ill' is such a gift. This, to coin an overused phrase, is a game-changer.

Oh, tomorrow's week 124 of my drug trial. Only 5 months to go until extension!

Cheers to you all! Have a great week!!!

This week I'm dealing with the aftermath of my car being totaled. A week ago Wed, I was at work,  minding my own business at my desk when a tree decided to land on top of my car. What a blow, literally. LOL. I've found a replacement car; however, waiting on the insurance company for pay off. I'm really hoping my life will begin to settle down, I've had plenty to keep me busy in the last 4 months! Well wishes to you all for a fabulous week!

Laura,  you are correct. Mary would NOT want us to continue to mourn her but to get back in the saddle , as she would and Alex does, and get on with  living. So, with Mary forever in my memory , I am moving forward as she would have wanted.

Waiting on my MRI to be done on Monday and then waiting for the slow system at my neuro's hospital to get the report done is what is planned for my Monday.

Tuesday and Thursday is PT for my post-op knee and Friday is the dermatolgist for the dreaded removal of several areas of skin damage.

I hope everyone has a good week ahead and perhaps some vacation plans or fun activities they'd like to share!!

Hugs to all,
Ren
