Breathing...

Have had this for a few years but today it is really troubling me. Basically, just having a difficult time taking a deep breath in. Been somewhat feeling strange, slightly depressed, can not focus. If anyone has had these symps I would appreciate feed back. Guess the 102 degree day isn't helping, lol...Thanks

So, you think it is the heat mostly making it hard to breathe?  If so, I'm with you on that one!

Stay cool - literally.

We are having an unusual cool spell up here in Wahsington.  Our high today was 58!  I'm lovin' it!

My friend, you need to take it easy.  When I had what is called the "MS Hug" I had trouble breathing in and breathing out.  Like someone was on each side of me holding my ribs and pressing in, so I couldn't take a deep breath.  Aside from any other medical cause, which you said you have had checked out, it could indeed, be induced by the heat or be the actual "MS Hug."

Please keep your doctor informed if you get to feeling like this again.  When this happened to me, it scared the daylight out of me....

Take care dear buddy.  We can't have you feeling out of sorts on us.  Stay cool!  If that's possible.  It's 94 right now in Virginia and it's only 11 am.  Gonna be a hot one.

Best Wishes,
Heather

Hey there!

I wish you felt better! Sounds like to me it could be more than one thing you have to look in to.  I forget, are you on interferons?  Are you feeling sad?  They can cause this, and I know for me, it felt like a funk I just couldn't shake.  NOT a good feeling at all.  Please tell the Doc if it doesn't pass.

Like Sunny and Ada say, the breathing test is quick and painless.  I have passed this with flying colors though and have mild asthma and thought I wouldn't pass it.

I have an inhailer and it's amazing how it opens up your airways and all of a sudden, a lot of things clear up.  You can take deep breaths - you head perks up because you are getting enough air, and it seems just enough to give you the push you are desperately needing.  Just a thought.

Do you have allergies? If so, the Doc probably would have no problem giving you one or writing a script. I'm so grateful for mine and don't even have to use it very often for the most part.  I haven't even used it for about 3 weeks now.

When you say you cannot breath deeply, is it tight? What about laughing (well, since you are depressed you may not know ...lol) but if you do, does it get cut off and you cough?
This needs fixin! Your RETIRED for goodness sakes!

Hi there! Have you ever mentioned this to your doctor? They can do an easy test called a lung funtion test that will measure how your body is moving air in and out of your lungs.

I have asthma and when I'm not getting enough air in (basically, I feel like I can't take a deep breath, i often don't cough) I feel real strange and can't focus and when it gets bad enough I get so foggy I need someone to walk me step by step through what I need to do to use my inhalers (usally I can use them with my eyes closed and my mind far away) :)

I hope you find some answers, it isn't any fun when it's hard to breathe and especially on warm days like today!

Hey Sweetie, I haven't talked to you before, I'm Ada aka Spastic. I just read your post, I hope that you are inside with air conditioning and feeling better.  Does it hurt when you are breathing in?  I know this hot weather is really bugging a lot of people.

I have been having dizziness with the heat intolerance and it really affects my thought process, moods, and I get some really odd sensations like my brain is feeling thick.  Rena here suggested that I get a cooling vest, maybe it would be a great idea for you too?

I don't have MS, I have Still's disease and hyperthyroidism and some other weird things but I call the MS forum home, these guys are truly a wonderful family to have.  I hope others here chime in with the expertise on this matter.

Sending Many Hugs Your Way,

Ada
