Neuro called back!

I finally heard back from the neuro - I had called to see if he thinks I have MS  and the nurse told me no, he just has the clinicla symptoms to support his dision for a diagnosis.  He wants me to see the MS specialist for a 2nd opinion.  They will send all my labs and MRIs to him and then they will call back for a appt time and date.

We have kids that live at Houston so we will go to there house and stay I asked them to take me to my appt too.  I am so glad that they know Houston.

Do I need to take a timeline with me to the specialist appt tooo?

Hi Lynette,
What a wise doctor to send you out for the second opinion -it sounds like he knows what is wrong but can't come up with the ultimate evidence to prove it (and probably satisfy the insurance needs?).

Like Heather wrote, I would treat this as a brand new appt.  Don't assume this new neuro knows anything about your or your case.  You will probably have just this one opportunity to present yourself and your case, so get yourself organized in advance.  Make your timeline.  But I would also make a list of the symtoms that you have and list them in the order of the most bothersome at the top.  You probably won't make it through your entire list so you want to be sure the most important are at the top. I hope this makes sense.

Good luck with this next step,
Lulu

I have to agree with Heather in that you should take a timeline with you to this appointment as well.  You may have information in the timeline that the current doctor may have missed and this MS Specialist will pick up on right away and therefore will help with a diagnosis.  I am happy for you that you are being referred to a specialist and will be waiting to hear what the results are going to be.  Best of Luck and please keep us updated as to the status of the next appointment!

Lots of Hugs,

Rena

It's good that you are seeing a MS specialist...I started to see mine last Oct and she is checking all my test results and requested I have more done.. still waiting for a Dx... but she does encourage me that she will help find out what is wrong.

If not MS...then whatever this is...

take care

Yes, at my last appt I think they finally listened to me and asked my husband what happened and how do I seem to him and am I differant than I use to be.  It was great to finally have Doctor to listen and ask my husband questions!  He told them everything I have been expeeriencing since my episode!

Thanks Heather i appreciate your input!

I am so glad to hear that you will be sent for a second opinion.  You asked if you should take a timeline and I say yes you should.  This is almost like you will be seeing a Neuro for the first time.  A new doctor...a new exam...all over again.  Which is a good thing.

Keep us informed about your appointment.  I hope this is the doctor that will straighten everything out.  Kudo's to your Neuro that you have now, for sending you for a second opinion.  That makes me think highly of him...

Best Wishes,
Heather
