New symptom: Like dizziness, but different?

Okay, so I am a newbie and a limbolander and I have a question about symptoms. In a nutshell, I have multiple lesions on MRI, negative bloodwork, VEP and LP. I had new lesions on an MRI at the 6 month mark and am heading back to the Neuro in a few weeks. I have had very minimal symptoms and my Neuro thinks that part of the problem might be that my symptoms are subtle or that I have been living with them for a while, so I am not able to report them well. I have a mild left hand tremor and have had problems with vertigo.

The neuro asked me to keep a journal and keep a running list of symptoms I might be having to bring to the next visit. The vertigo happens for a few minutes every day for say a month or so, then goes away for a weeks before it returns. I describe it as looking at things through a kalediscope for a few minutes. Things move around me, but I am not spinning. Lately I have been having something else happen and I am not sure I know how to describe it. I was hoping that maybe someone else might have a similar feeling and could help me figure out how to describe it better so that the Neuro understands it. It'll happen for a few minutes and feels like I am "swimming" around inside of my own head. When it happens and I am standing it affects my balance and I am generally unsure of things when it comes to depth perception, but objects are not moving. When I am sitting I don't have balance or depth perception issues. Things just feel a bit wavy, but nothing moves unaturally.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or heard of anything like that? It only lasts for a few minutes, but has been happenng a couple times a day for the last week. Anyone?

Thanks,

-Amy

I'm a limbolander as well, and am going through the Dr. visits and MRI's etc. I just started seeing the "kalediscope" effect about a week ago and that is exactly how I described i! :) I was just diagnosed with Optic Neuritis a week ago, and, while my Dr. isn't very informative, this symtom may tie into that.
Hope you find some answers!

Hi!!

I jhave these too - I call them "swirlies" and my pattern of them is almost exactly like yours except I had a 6 week repreive from them until this past week.

I too feel unsteady and like my head is in a fishbowl.  Mine seam to correlate with the brain fog issues because I was on my game until this past week and now I can't remember where I live again. that's fun!! LOL

Good luck with your neuro followup and I hope you get some answers soon!!

Yes, I have this weird feeling too. I tell my DH it feels like my brain is sitting in a jar of liquid. I have no Dx yet, so I do not know what part it plays in whatever's wrong with me. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. At least there's a few of us!

I've been having strange dizzy feelings... hard to explain...no spinning.. I feel nauseated abit..the room feels like it moves abit...back and forth...not alot.. but abnormal movement and I cannot get up or walk when these happen.  I have to lay down, or sit and hold on to something.

Mine lasts from 5 - 15 min approx..then I'm off balance for a few days.  I get them every few days for awhile.  Then they go away for a month or so..then return.

this has been happening for almost 3 years.  I had it 10 years ago and it went away after 4 months...but it came back 3 years ago...
then I started with other symptoms.. Good luck..keep us informed

I think I know what you mean. I have been describing it as dizziness for lack of a better label--but dizziness doesn't quite fit. I feel like I am "lightheaded" or that my head is floating above my neck and moving around a little--even though it obviously isn't. Sometimes the feeling is pretty intense and lasts just a second or two, but it is more often mild and constant--for an hour or so. For some reason the image of sand going through the huge hourglass of my head comes to mind--but that seems really weird. It is difficult to describe. There almost seems to be an electricity-ness to it--like static on on old-time tv screen with the black and white snow pixelating. ..reading this back I sound totally crazy. I haven't tried to explain the feeling in so much detail before. I can imagine you either saying, "yes, me too" or "what a crazy lady!" Good luck to you.
