Very interesting appointment

Had my Neuro. appointment yesterday, and it was interesting. We went over my recent worsening of symptoms and the Heart Cath. surgery. I do not have a Pfo, but I have a 'bubble' area on the heart. And something about a lung 'shunt'? I remain confused about that, but he didn't seem super worried about either item. I am to stay on aspirin.

More things went on with the blood pressure situation. He believes I probably have POTS. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome  (had to copy and paste that baby!)
I had to be googling that one of course, had no idea what that was.

He did also order an MRI of the C spine. Any thoughts on this? He decided this after we went over the foot situation. As he was hammering on that leg (R) it went crazy swinging.

He put me on Provigil and approved my scooter, yeah! Now hopefully the insurance will pay for it.

He is telling the Endo that I need a Tilt Table test.

Any thoughts?

Thanks all

Jazzy

Hey Jazzy ...

Did you happen to tell Dr.B about the comment made by the infectious disease doc?

I started on Provigil after my last appointment and now that I am tolerating it better it is a Godsend.  It intially gave me a bit of a stomach upset, so I only took half a pill for about two months.  (He prescribed 200mg.)  It definately has made life better for me and I hope it does the same for you.

I am sorry you need a scooter, but glad that you can get one.  Kinda a double egded sword.

More tests for you...does it ever end?????

Sending you smiles...

He girl,
I hope he approved the scooter that you run one-handed.or fingered as the case may be. When my husband first became ill with the brain tumors & couldn't walk, we had to rent a scooter, but it was the type similar to bysycle handles. It was very difficult for him as he had left arm paralysis.  I took it back after a month as it wasn't working for him. We were in the process of gettting the one that looks like a very nice motorised chair, with hand controls, when he passed away. Kinda wish he had gotten it, it might come in handy after my appt with MS specialist. LOL

Zilla is right the tilt table test is for your blood pressure changes..........................Get that scooter goin' maybe you can have a race with grannyhotwheels! Maggie

I'm still counting on seeing you in Stockholm someday when your doc writes his magnificent paper on you....Girl!  You still confound us!

I believe the tilt table is the test for POTS.  Did he take your blood pressure while sitting, lying down and upon standing?  I believe in the dysauto...something(?)  disorders the patient's pressure changes relative to position.  It's considered an MS mimic.

But you have so much going on, as we know.  Hope fully this will be one more step closer to good treatment for you.

I loved Provigil when I took it for sleep apnea.  I hope it helps with your fatigue.  And remind me --- why the scooter, girlfriend?  I'm sorry you need it.  I know you've been having a hard time, but didn't know you needed a scooter.  Boo hoo.

Good luck with the testing.  Let us know how things are going!  Make sure they check your "Biz!"
