Exacerbation, trouble swallowing, sent home by ER

This morning I woke up and today while working had trouble swallowing, numb roof of mouth.  From my bout on Sunday, my neuro said to "take it easy and relax."

Today when I called neuro to find that he stated the above, I told the medical assistant I was having trouble swallowing.
My neurologist told me to go to the ER.

My husband takes me and it was a battle from the get go.  Why are you here and what can we do for you???

The ER doctor called my neurologist and I actually think my neuro blew me off this morning.  He told the ER doctor to get a Speech Pathology evaluation on me.

I am so darn mad at my neurologist.  How about some prednisone and Ativan to get me through this.  I feel because of my blurred vision I am going to have a panic attack, just like in the past.

I guess everybody was right.  My neuro will not treat me for what he calls "benign MS."

When I try to eat or drink anything it makes my swallowing and numbness worse.  The whole ER visit was a waste of time.  I have no objective signs, so I am perfectly normal.  LOL

I pray that this will blow over, but I am going to try and positively think it away....

Letting off steam,

Terri, just make sure that it's a 3T MRI or better - definitely worth it!

P.S.

As of today, which I did not know, I guess my neurologist now wants to do an MRI since it has been over 3 years and then he wants to see me.

I am going to do the MRI, but I definitely will not hold my breath that it is going to show anything yet.  I've been there too many times....

Thanks for your help!

Hi Terri

I hope that you are letting off steam with a loud explosion as you deserve to feel angry and vent. No-one helped and supported you and your neuro was not there for you.

You are obviously trying to cope as calmly as possible as you know that stressing futher will not help your body recover but it leaves you back at square one of the snakes and ladder board and it takes a lot of courage to keep going forward.

I hope that your swallowing does not get worse..it must be so frightening and I cannot imagine how you feel without anyone giving you the support and advice that you needed.
I am not sure what to suggest but if it gets worse then you will just have to go back to your neuro..and it can feel a long time till Monday.

Love and hugs
