Extremely sore and painful breast

Hi, I am 49 yrs old and have been diagnosed with MS. I get the regular symptoms but this past week and a half my breasts have been very sore and Painful. When I take off my bra it feels like a ton of bricks. I had a hysterectomy 10 yrs ago, one ovary and never had this problem in ten years. Could this be caused by MS? I have had mammograms on a regular because my mom passed from breast cancer and so far all tests have cone back negative. It is not just one breast it is both. They just suddenly started hurting. Nipples very sore. Thank you for any input.

Thank you karryon55. I am just wondering why this is happening after 10 YRS having the hysterectomy. I would have thought this would have happened throughiut the ten years. Thank you.

I found a soft bra was beneficial to sleep in. I remember if I took off my bra I had to cup my breasts when I tried to walk or the pain was worse lol (nice picture there.) I am at an age of possible pre menopause or peri menopause (43) so I am guessing this is why I went through this for months.

I was told it is essentially fluid build up in the breast tissue hence why they are heavy & painful. I wasn't given anything to help with this & it did eventually disappear. I don't take the pill or any hormones but if you do it may need to be reviewed in regards to dosage.

Good luck & I hope it settles soon.

No soy products. It is going on two weeks now and my PCP is on vacation until next week. I took my bea off tonight and OMG it was awful. Heavy, sore, painful. Hard to sleep

Might sound odd, but have you recently been using a lot of soy product?  A chemical in soy mimics estrogen, and can make painful breasts.

I had this problem for several months & I hated taking my bra off. I was told it was excess fluid in the breasts which is caused from a hormonal imbalance. I thought I was stuck with it but one day it just went & I've not had any problems since. It could be caused by steroids (if you've been on any) which mucks with hormones in the body including sex hormones.

I would not think this is MS related at all. I would definitely check in with your PCP as you have a family history of breast cancer. It was a while ago that this happened to me but I'm certain I discussed it with my PCP.

Good luck,

Karry.

Hopefully you won't get breast cancer I have the same thing as Angelina Jolie so I have a 87% of breast cancer. They wanted me to have a double mastectomy but I said not until I get breast cancer. I have learned to not think about it, but is big fear for women. They found a lump a few months back and I sweated it until they figure out it was a lymph node. You have lymph nodes near your breast too. It hard not to worry about Cancer, but I have learned to be happy with Ovarian Cancer and not worry about what could happen. I do the same with my MS.

Thank you Alex. No pain under my armpits. I am not on any meds yet. I had to take another series of MRI's. I have an appt in the 18th with ny nuerologist. I have weakness on my left side also so before he put me on any meds he wants to be very thorough. I will make an appt with my PCP doctor. Thank you Alex. My aunt was diagnosed with cancer in both of her breast. I will definitely see about this.

I would start with my General Practitioner in case it is something else. Everything is not MS. It is highly unlikely Cancer if it is both breasts. Are you on any new medications? Sometimes Medications can do weird things.I have not heard of MS causing breast pain but you never know. How about under your arms? If you have pain there it could be lymph nodes. Mine swelled from a Sinus infection.
