3 MRIs - 3 descriptions

I have had 3 MRIs in 2 years.  No changes.  I have one lesion which upon which I was diagnosed.  In each of the MRIs it was described differently:

-punctate hyperintensity near lateral margin of anterior corpus callosum

-periventricular focus adjacent to the right anterior horn of the lateral ventricle

-discrete subcentimeter juxtacortical focus of signal abnormality.

Each of these terms was used to describe the same lesion and yet each term seems to mean something different in the MS world and from what I can see on a picture of a brain, aren't actually in the same location.  Im very confused.  My next appointment with the MS neurologist isn't until April so if anyone has any knowledge of these MS terms, it would be much appreciated!

Hi Kwazii-

We have a resident Calgary expert! DV! Any thoughts on how to deal with the multiple MRI thing?

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the response.

I live in Canada and how it works here (at least in Calgary) is that your neurologist sends you for an MRI and they fit you in at the hospital that has availability so I don't think I've ever had an MRI at the same place twice!  Different radiologists reading it each time too.  The radiologists compare current MRIs to previous ones, which is why they can state that the MRI is "unchanged" but it does seem odd that they've each chosen to use such different language in describing the location of the lesion.

Hi Kwazii - Welcome to our group.

I'm not a radiologist, nor do we have any that participate in the forum. There are many others here who do possess far greater knowledge of Radiology Speak than I. Hopefully they will chime in.

It does seem to me that you have listed 3 different locations. It also seems to me that it's impossible for one lesion to be in 3 places at once. Were your MRI's all done at the same place and read by the same doc?
